Sanam is an Indian pop rock band formed in 2010 currently based in Mumbai, India known for its renditions of old classic Indian Bollywood songs as well as original music. The band SANAM consists of Sanam Puri (lead vocalist/composer), Samar Puri (lyricist/lead guitar/composer), Venky S or Venkat Subramaniyam (bass guitar) and Keshav Dhanraj.[1][2][3] In 2016, the band was amongst India's top 10 independent YouTube Channels, India's biggest music artist on the digital platform and the fastest growing YouTube channel in the country.[4][5][6]
The soundtrack[6] is composed by O. P. Nayyar, while the lyrics are penned by lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri. The soundtrack consists of 9 songs. Singers such as Mohammad Rafi and Asha Bhosle have done the playback for the songs of the album. Songs such as "Pukarta Chala Hoon Main", "Jaiye Aap Kahan Jayenge" and "Yeh Hai Reshmi Zulfon Ka Andhera" are still considered to be classics, while the others songs are also popular. There is also a small alap, which Mohammed Rafi takes in the beginning of the song "Jaiye Aap Kahan Jayenge".

Free-rock, post-folk sextet SANAM's music is akin to a ritual, somewhere between a marriage and an exorcism. The six Lebanese musicians blend traditional Egyptian songs and Arabic poetry with improvised rock, free jazz, and noise. These are stitched together by Sandy Chamoun's (of The Great Departed) commanding singing. Fittingly, the group came to be as part of a performance of another notable experimenter, Faust's Hans Joachim Irmler, at Irtijal, the oldest music festival in Beirut. Their first album, 'Aykathani Malakon', was recorded in a traditional house in the village of Saqi Reshmaya, and is out this summer on Mais Um Discos.
