Festival of Sharing 2017

Members of First United Methodist Presbyterian Church are preparing various kits and buckets for the annual Festival of Sharing at Sedalia. This ecumenical mission ingathering has been held at the State Fairgrounds for many years, hosting various ministries from across the state, sorting through thousands of donated kits and supplies, a youth festival, and worship service featuring a mission speaker. This may be the last Festival to be held at Sedalia; the Festival planning committee is exploring holding regional events, citing reduction of expenses, more focused events, and ease of travel for participants.

To prepare for the Festival, local church members are assembling 35 flood buckets (five-gallon buckets filled with cleaning supplies), food boxes to be distributed within the state, and 200 filled school bags. The school bags may go to children either in the United States or well beyond its borders.

Top two pictures are of Youthfest in Sedalia, where over 600 youth and youth sponsors joined for a mixer, concert, and an outstanding amount of work serving others by packaging food.

Gifted quilters donated quilts to be auctioned raising $22,500 for Church World Service.
