PRIVACY POLICY FOR FULL PAGE SCREENSHOT - SCREEN CAPTURE & ANNOTATE
Last Updated: October 2026
1. INTRODUCTION & CORE PRINCIPLE
"Full Page Screenshot - Screen Capture & Annotate" (SnapPage) is built with a strict "privacy-by-design" philosophy. We believe that what you view, capture, redact, or annotate on your web browser belongs exclusively to you.
SnapPage operates completely offline on your local device. We do not operate remote storage servers, we do not employ external tracking scripts or third-party telemetry, and we never collect, transmit, monetize, or sell your browsing history, images, or personal information.
2. WHAT DATA IS ACCESSED OR STORED
- Screenshots & Images: When you trigger a capture (full page, selected region, or visible screen), the generated image data is created and processed directly in your browser's local memory and private local IndexedDB storage. These files never leave your computer unless you explicitly choose to download them or copy them to your system clipboard.
- User Preferences: Local settings, such as your selected countdown timer (0s, 3s, 5s) and preferred editor mode, are saved strictly within your browser's private local storage (`chrome.storage.local`).
- No Analytics: We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Sentry, or any third-party tracking scripts.
3. EXPLANATION OF REQUESTED PERMISSIONS
To deliver screen capture and editing capabilities in compliance with Google Chrome Extension Manifest V3 standards, SnapPage requests only three minimal, narrowly scoped permissions:
• `activeTab`
Purpose: Allows the extension to capture the visible contents of the current webpage and interact with it ONLY when you explicitly click the extension popup button or trigger a keyboard shortcut.
Scope: This access is strictly temporary and is granted solely to the single active tab you are looking at. It does NOT grant continuous access to your background tabs or browsing history.
• `storage`
Purpose: Enables the extension to remember your customized user preferences (e.g., default timer delay, editor toggle) and save your recent capture history within your local browser sandbox.
Scope: Data remains entirely within your local browser profile.
• `scripting`
Purpose: Allows the extension to execute the lightweight scrolling helper for stitching tall, multi-screen pages and to display the interactive snipping crosshair overlay for region captures.
Scope: Executed strictly upon user action on the active tab.
4. ARE ALL THESE PERMISSIONS DEFINITELY NECESSARY?
YES. Every single permission requested has been strictly reviewed under Google's Minimal Permissions Principle:
- Why not fewer permissions?
Without `activeTab`, Chrome does not allow any extension to capture pixels from a tab (`chrome.tabs.captureVisibleTab`).
Without `scripting`, the extension cannot measure the document scroll height or programmatically scroll down long pages to capture tall scrolling screenshots, nor can it draw the snipping selection overlay on your screen.
Without `storage`, your preferences and history would reset every single time you close your browser.
- What permissions were intentionally OMITTED for your safety?
• NO `<all_urls>` or Broad Host Permissions: Unlike other screenshot tools that demand permanent access to "Read and change all your data on all websites", SnapPage requests NO broad host permissions. The extension cannot view or interact with any webpage until you voluntarily click to capture it.
• NO `tabs` Permission: We do not request the general `tabs` permission, meaning the extension cannot see your open tabs, search history, or background tabs.
• NO `webRequest`: The extension cannot intercept or inspect your network traffic.
• NO `cookies`: The extension has zero access to your login sessions, cookies, or credentials.
• NO `downloads`: Instead of requesting invasive filesystem/downloads permissions, SnapPage utilizes standard browser blob downloads.
5. DATA RETENTION & DELETION
All captured screenshots and local preferences remain under your total control. You can delete individual captures or wipe your entire capture history at any time with a single click using the "Clear All" button inside the Gallery History modal. Uninstalling the extension immediately deletes all locally stored data.
6. CONTACT & DEVELOPER DECLARATION
We declare in good faith that:
- Your data is never sold to third parties.
- Your data is never used for purposes unrelated to the extension's core single purpose (taking and editing screenshots).
- Your data is never used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
