Gill's independent film company recently bought the rights to the action-thriller film The Plane, starring Gerard Butler.

"China, Japan and Korea this year have shown us that movie viewing habits have not changed," said Gill.
"The film Demon Slayer, which is very popular in Japan, is not necessarily the most sophisticated film ever, but there are clearly hidden demands that audiences can go to the cinema again.
"I think it shows that one good blockbuster film can be a real tipping point, if the conditions are right."
Solstice is the first company to release a new film in US theaters after the first wave of the pandemic.
"We decided to go into the film business to screen films in theaters," he said. "Someone has to start it."

"Asia has an independent film industry, making its own films and for its own audience.
"Hollywood has historically relied on cinemas worldwide for 65% of their profits. If Asia had an independent film industry, they would no longer need Hollywood films.
"It was a huge blow to Hollywood," said Gaydos.
Mulan was made to attract film audiences in China, but received negative reviews when it was released in theaters, last September.
But Gaydos believes that a giant budget blockbuster is one of the few films that have a future in Hollywood, with a budget unlikely to be cut above.
"Blockbuster films are not going to make it," he said.
"Hollywood only makes films in this category. This type of film accounts for 95% of all profits. Many film studios that make expensive films are betting their future on continued success.
"These big, expensive films are actually a better bet than the cheaper films, because they sell for spectacular productions and seasoned actors. That's the innate charm.
"But all independent films and dramas, which are risky or do not guarantee profit, have switched to streaming services," said Gaydos.
It seems that streaming services are unlikely to stop there, especially given reports that the filmmakers of No Time to Die recently failed to reach an agreement to show their films on cable-based entertainment TV stations.
