If you want a versatile, washable headband that doubles as sports gear for activities like fishing or running, choose Fulext Sleep Headphones; if you need total darkness and a contoured mask to block light while listening to meditation audio, choose ZUMUSEN Sleep Headphones Mask.
• Fulext: Offers 10 hours of battery life, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, and a machine-washable spandex design, but it relies on sound isolation rather than active noise cancellation and offers no light-blocking capability. This is the pick for side sleepers who also work out or fish and want a single product for multiple scenarios.
• ZUMUSEN: Features a 3D memory foam contour that reduces eye pressure, blocks light effectively around the nose, and delivers up to 15 hours of playback with Bluetooth 5.4, but it is not designed for vigorous physical activity and cannot be washed in a machine. This is the pick for heavy sleepers, travelers, or anyone whose primary goal is deep rest in a bright environment.
The Fulext Sleep Headphones are built around a unique hybrid concept that blurs the line between a standard sleep aid and a piece of athletic gear. The core of this device is a headband made from durable braided cord with a breathable mesh lining. This isn't just a fabric strap; it houses two ultra-thin speakers directly inside the band, positioned so they do not press against your ears. This specific design choice makes it an ideal solution for side sleepers who find traditional earbuds uncomfortable when lying down. Because the control module sits in the middle of the band rather than near the ear canal, you can sleep on your side without crushing the driver or feeling pain in your ear cartilage.
For someone looking for noise canceling sleep headphones for fishing, the Fulext offers a practical, though passive, approach. The product description highlights "sound isolation" as its method of reducing ambient disturbance. While it does not feature active electronic noise cancellation, the combination of the tight fit, the soft spandex material, and the direct contact of the drivers creates a barrier against external noise. This makes it suitable for outdoor settings where you might need to listen to music or podcasts to mask the sounds of nature or campsite chatter. However, because it lacks a light-blocking component, it is strictly a hearing-focused tool. If you are fishing in the early morning or late evening and need to hear your surroundings, this design allows you to keep your eyes open while still enjoying audio.
The versatility of the Fulext extends well beyond the bedroom. The manufacturer explicitly lists use cases including housework, travel, yoga, running, and sports. The material is described as incredibly soft, hypoallergenic, and extremely stretchable to fit most head sizes. A standout feature for any active user is the washability. You can throw the entire unit into a washing machine after a sweaty workout or a muddy day on the boat, provided you remove the control pod first. This level of hygiene maintenance is something many sleep masks simply cannot offer. With a battery life that supports more than 10 hours of continuous use and a charging time of only 2 to 2.5 hours, it is robust enough to handle long nights or extended outdoor sessions.
However, this product is not for everyone. If your primary struggle with sleep is light intrusion rather than noise, the Fulext will leave you staring into the dark. It provides no mechanism to block sunlight or streetlights. Furthermore, if you are looking for high-fidelity audiophile experiences, the balanced armature drivers may feel different than what you expect from premium over-ear headphones, though the frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz suggests a broad spectrum capable of handling various content types. It is best suited for those who value convenience, durability, and multi-purpose utility over specialized sleep optics.

The ZUMUSEN Sleep Headphones Mask takes a completely different approach by prioritizing the visual experience alongside the auditory one. Instead of a simple headband, this device is a dedicated eye cover constructed from 3D memory foam. The material features a hypoallergenic quality and is designed to follow the natural shape of the eye area. This 3D cut is engineered specifically to reduce pressure on the eyes and eyelashes, addressing a common complaint with flat sleep masks that push directly onto the eyeballs. The contour includes a nose-wing shape that is refined to reduce light exposure around the nose area, ensuring that even if you move during the night, fewer gaps let light in compared to a standard flat mask.
This product shines for individuals who require total darkness to fall asleep or stay asleep. The "light blocking design" is a critical feature for shift workers, frequent travelers dealing with airplane windows, or anyone living in urban environments with street lighting. When paired with the built-in ultra-thin stereo speakers and Bluetooth 5.4 technology, it becomes a comprehensive relaxation station. You can listen to meditation audio, calming music, or podcasts while being completely shielded from visual distractions. The adjustable elastic band accommodates various head sizes, providing even support that helps minimize shifting and pressure during sleep, which is essential for maintaining that seal against light throughout the night.
Battery life is another area where the ZUMUSEN distinguishes itself. This extended runtime is perfect for overnight use without interruption or for long-haul flights where power outlets are scarce. The inclusion of a nonstandard battery included in the package ensures you are ready to use it immediately upon unboxing. The audio quality is described as immersive stereo, leveraging the 3D speakers to create a spatial experience that feels more integrated than a separate headphone set.
Despite these strengths, the ZUMUSEN has clear limitations regarding physical activity. The construction, while comfortable for resting, involves memory foam and a contoured structure that is not designed for the rigors of running, weightlifting, or fishing. You would not want to wear a rigid 3D foam mask while casting a fishing rod or hiking uphill; it would likely shift uncomfortably or trap heat excessively. Additionally, unlike the Fulext, there is no mention of the ZUMUSEN being machine washable. Cleaning such a device requires more care, likely involving spot cleaning or hand washing to preserve the integrity of the memory foam and the internal electronics. It is a dedicated sleep tool, not a crossover fitness accessory.
• Best for Total Darkness: The ZUMUSEN is the superior choice here. Its 3D memory foam and nose-wing contour actively block light, whereas the Fulext offers zero protection from brightness.
• Best for Multi-Activity Use: If you plan to wear your headphones while fishing, working out, or doing chores, the Fulext wins. Its washable, stretchable design handles sweat and movement better than the fixed-form ZUMUSEN.
• Longest Battery Life: The ZUMUSEN offers up to 15 hours of playback, beating the Fulext's 10-hour capacity. This matters if you have very long days or overnight shifts.
• Ease of Maintenance: The Fulext is machine washable (with the pod removed), making it far easier to clean after heavy use or spills. The ZUMUSEN requires gentler cleaning methods.
• Comfort for Heavy Eye Pressure: If you hate anything touching your eyelids, the ZUMUSEN's 3D cut is scientifically designed to relieve that pressure. The Fulext rests on the head, which some find less intrusive for the face but offers no eye relief.
• Connectivity Speed: Both utilize modern Bluetooth versions (Fulext uses 5.2, ZUMUSEN uses 5.4), but the ZUMUSEN's 5.4 chip promises slightly faster pairing and lower power consumption, aligning with its longer battery claim.
• Lightweight Portability: The Fulext weighs 0.09 kg, making it extremely light and easy to pack. The ZUMUSEN comes in a larger package dimension (8.94 x 4.53 x 1.38 inches) due to the mask structure, making it slightly bulkier for travel.
• Audio Driver Type: Fulext uses Balanced Armature Drivers, which often provide detailed mids and highs, while ZUMUSEN emphasizes 3D Stereo Speakers for an immersive experience. Your preference for sound profile will dictate the winner here.
After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I recommend the ZUMUSEN Sleep Headphones Mask for anyone whose primary struggle is falling asleep due to light or anxiety. The combination of light blocking and 15-hour battery life creates a superior sleep sanctuary. However, if you are a person who needs a gadget for fishing or active lifestyles, I would buy the Fulext Sleep Headphones. Its ability to be washed, its lack of ear pressure, and its headband form factor make it the only logical choice for outdoor enthusiasts who want to listen to their favorite tunes while staying alert to their surroundings. For pure sleep quality in a dark room, the ZUMUSEN is the clear winner; for versatility and ruggedness, the Fulext takes the crown.
Neither product features active electronic noise cancellation, but both provide sound isolation. The Fulext is better for fishing because it is lightweight, washable, and stays secure during movement, whereas the ZUMUSEN mask is too bulky for active outdoor use.
The ZUMUSEN offers a longer runtime with up to 15 hours of playback per charge, while the Fulext provides approximately 10 hours of service time before needing a recharge.
No, the ZUMUSEN is made of 3D memory foam and is not listed as machine washable. You should spot clean it carefully. In contrast, the Fulext headband is explicitly designed to be machine washable once the control pod is removed.
Neither product uses a "clip-on" design. The Fulext is a headband style that sits over the ears, and the ZUMUSEN is a full eye mask. Both are wireless and sit comfortably without clipping onto the ear canal itself.
