This Privacy Policy explains how the StoryFr Android application ("StoryFr", "the app",package name eltarik.language.learning.french.apps) handles information. StoryFr is anFrench-learning app with graded stories, comics, word translation, dictation exercises,quizzes and vocabulary flashcards. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
## Summary
- StoryFr has **no account system**. We do not ask for your name, e-mail address, phone number or any other personal details to use the app.- Your learning progress, saved words and settings are stored **only on your device**. We do not have servers that receive or store them.- StoryFr does **not** access your microphone, camera, contacts, photos, files or precise location.- The app is free and shows ads through **Google AdMob**, which collects certain device data as described below.- The app uses **Google Firebase** (Analytics and Crashlytics) to understand how the app is used, in aggregate, and to fix crashes.
## 1. Information we do not collect
We do not collect or store:
- account or identity information (no sign-up, no login);- your name, e-mail address, phone number or postal address;- contacts, photos, videos, files or calendar data;- precise (GPS) location;- audio or voice recordings. The app does not request microphone permission; dictation exercises are completed by typing.
## 2. Information stored only on your device
To make the app work, StoryFr saves the following data locally on your device:
- reading progress, quiz scores and unlocked stories and levels;- words you save to your vocabulary list and their flashcard review schedule;- settings such as your translation language, playback speed and hint tokens.
This data never leaves your device through StoryFr and we cannot access it. If AndroidBackup is turned on in your device settings, Android may include this app data in yourpersonal device backup, which is stored in your Google account, encrypted and managed byGoogle; we cannot access these backups either.
You can delete all of this data at any time by clearing the app's storage(Settings → Apps → StoryFr → Storage → Clear storage) or by uninstalling the app.
## 3. Third-party services
StoryFr relies on the following third-party services. Each one processes data under itsown privacy policy.
### 3.1 Google AdMob (advertising) and Google User Messaging Platform (consent)
StoryFr displays banner, interstitial and rewarded ads provided by Google AdMob. To serve,measure and protect ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- device identifiers such as the Android Advertising ID and App Set ID;- your IP address, which may be used to estimate your approximate location (country or city level);- information about your device and app use, such as device model, operating system, language, ad impressions and taps;- diagnostic information such as crash logs and performance data.
This data is used for advertising and ad measurement, analytics, frequency capping andfraud prevention. Depending on your choices and your location, ads may be personalized ornon-personalized.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks foryour consent through Google's User Messaging Platform before ads are requested. You canchange your choice at any time from the app menu (☰ → Paramètres de confidentialité).
You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in yourdevice settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on yourdevice).

### 3.2 Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics
To understand how StoryFr is used and to fix problems, the app uses two Google Firebaseservices:
- **Firebase Analytics** records automatically collected usage events, such as app opens, sessions and app updates, with device information (device model, operating system, language and approximate location derived from the IP address) and identifiers (an app instance ID and, where permitted, the Advertising ID).- **Firebase Crashlytics** sends a report when the app crashes, containing the error trace, the device model, the operating system version and a random installation identifier.
We look at this information only in aggregated form, to improve the app and fix errors; we donot use it to identify you. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland,Firebase Analytics follows the choice you make in the consent form: nothing is stored on yourdevice for analytics or advertising purposes until you have made that choice, and you canchange it at any time in ☰ → Paramètres de confidentialité. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months andcrash reports for up to 90 days.

### 3.3 Google ML Kit (on-device translation)
Word translations are produced **on your device** by Google ML Kit. The words you look up arenot sent to us or to Google for translation. The first time you choose a translationlanguage, the app downloads that language's translation model from Google's servers. ML Kitmay also send Google technical information about the performance and use of its features(for example diagnostic data) to maintain and improve the service.Terms: https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms
### 3.4 Wiktionary (word definitions)
When you open a word's details, StoryFr may request that word's French definition fromWiktionnaire (the French-language Wiktionary), a service of the Wikimedia Foundation, over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Therequest contains only the word itself. Like any website, Wikimedia's servers receive standardtechnical information such as your IP address. ### 3.5 Text-to-speech
Audio narration and word pronunciation are generated by the text-to-speech engine installed onyour device (for example, Speech Services by Google). The app passes the text to be spoken(story sentences or words) to that engine on your device. If your engine uses online voices,the engine provider's privacy policy applies.
### 3.6 Google Play
The app may show Google Play's in-app review dialog and can open Google Play pages (to ratethe app or see our other apps). These features are provided by Google Play under Google'sPrivacy Policy.
### 3.7 Sharing and contacting us
When you use the "Share" buttons, the text you share is passed to the app you choose; we donot receive it. If you contact us by e-mail (for example with the in-app "Envoyer un commentaire" (Send feedback)option), we receive your e-mail address, your message, and the app version and device modelthat are pre-filled in the message (you can remove them before sending). We use thisinformation only to reply to you and delete it when it is no longer needed.
## 4. Permissions
StoryFr uses these Android permissions:
- **Internet and network state:** to load ads, download translation models, fetch word definitions and open Google Play links.- **Advertising ID and Android ad services** (declared by the Google Mobile Ads SDK): to show and measure ads as described in section 3.1.- **Install referrer** (declared by Firebase Analytics): lets Google Play tell the app which store page or campaign led to its installation, as part of the analytics in section 3.2.- **Wake lock and foreground service** (declared by Google libraries): to complete background tasks such as downloading translation models.
StoryFr does not request access to the microphone, camera, location, contacts or yourfiles.
## 5. Children's privacy
StoryFr is intended for teenagers and adults learning French and is not directed tochildren under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from childrenunder 13, in line with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), or fromchildren under the age of digital consent in their country (for example 16 in some EuropeanUnion countries). If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has providedpersonal information through the app, please contact us at nawalel682@gmail.com and we will helpdelete it.
## 6. Data security
Network communications made by the app and its third-party services use encrypted HTTPS(TLS) connections. Data stored on your device is protected by Android's application sandbox.No method of transmission or storage is 100 % secure, but we choose services and practicesdesigned to protect your information.
## 7. Data retention and deletion
We do not keep personal data on our own servers. Data stored on your device stays there untilyou clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Firebase keeps analytics data for up to 14months and crash reports for up to 90 days (section 3.2). Other data processed by Google orWikimedia is kept according to their own policies; you can manage your Google advertising datain your device settings and at https://myadcenter.google.com.
## 8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or US state privacy lawssuch as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict theprocessing of your personal data, and to object to personalized advertising. Because StoryFrdoes not store your personal data on our servers, most of these rights can be exerciseddirectly on your device (clearing app storage, resetting your Advertising ID, changing yourconsent in ☰ → Paramètres de confidentialité) or with Google. ## 9. International transfers
Google and the Wikimedia Foundation may process data in the United States and othercountries, under the safeguards described in their own privacy policies.
## 10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when the app gains newfeatures. The updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
