Popcorn! Bananas! But in this circus YOU do the juggling! Between acts, Janoah guides audience through the essentials: throwing, catching and messy-ing up. All you need: two plastic bags and some scissors. Precarious unicycling, vibrating puppetry, jaw-dropping juggling … A tale of teaching emerges from a haphazard pile of props.
janoah…anygoodjokes? learned unicycling in the empty after-hours corridors of his middle school. As a teenager he traveled New England for two seasons with the Circus Smirkus Big Top Tour. He currently coaches and choreographs the Gym Dandies Children's Circus of Scarborough and helped found The Living Room Dance Collective in Portland, ME.
Janoah's evening-length solo shows weave circus, dance and puppetry into entertaining and mind-bending performances for all ages. He presents variety arts for stages, festivals and parades all over New England, leaving behind a wake of tumbled juggling props. During the summer of 2019, Janoah toured to seven Fringe Festivals across Canada, winning "Best Variety" at the London Fringe. He has also performed for Cloud City (NYC), the Dance Complex (Boston) and SPACE (Portland, ME).Janoah is the 2020 recipient of the Maine Arts Commission's Fellowship in the Performing Arts and has received several NEFA and MAC grants to create new work.
