Long before Frightmare became a place whispered about in fear, there was a man who refused to live by the rules of the living or the dead.
Mr. Fright was not a scientist. He was a seeker of forbidden truths. While others prayed, fled, or hid from death, he listened to it. He studied ancient tomes, stolen rites, and blasphemous texts recovered from beneath Frightmare itself. Through obsession and sacrifice, he learned the names of things that were never meant to be known, and in doing so drew the attention of forces far older than mankind.
Beneath Frightmare, he carved a hidden domain untouched by time, a place where candles never burn out and whispers cling to the walls. There, he performed rituals that twisted flesh and spirit together, binding lost souls into broken bodies. From the remains of the forgotten and the damned, he shaped the creatures that now roam the halls. He did not call them monsters.
He called them his children.
When the Reapers came to claim him, Mr. Fright was waiting. Through rites stolen from the void, he shattered their authority, severing their bond to the afterlife and trapping them within Frightmare. Death was no longer the hunter.
It was contained.
Yet even this victory left him unsatisfied.
There exists a force tied not to death, but to life itself. Something ancient. Something intelligent. Something that does not answer to ritual or command. Mr. Fright knows it by name.
The Silver Raven.
He has seen it move through Frightmare without fear. He has watched it pass through sealed halls, ignore bindings, and refuse every law he has learned. Where Reapers can be trapped, the Silver Raven cannot. Where souls can be bound, the Silver Raven remains untouched.
This infuriates him.
Mr. Fright studies its movements obsessively. He records when it appears and when it vanishes. He has attempted rituals designed solely to draw it closer, to weaken it, to understand it. All have failed. The Silver Raven does not resist him.
It simply refuses him.
Morganna calls it the one who will not play. Mr. Fright knows better.
The Silver Raven is something he cannot own.
And that is why he wants it more than immortality itself.
Mr. Fright endures, not alive, not dead, bound to Frightmare by his own design. As long as the haunt stands, so does he. Watching the halls. Watching his children.
Watching the Silver Raven.
Waiting for the moment it finally chooses him.
