What is the timeline for this project?
Final drawings will be due December 1st, 2025 to prepare for the 5th Anniversary release date on December 25th, 2025. As this is an anniversary project, the release date is not flexible.
Can I draw more than one character?
To allow for the greatest level of collaboration possible, art entries are limited to one per person. We may allow artists to be assigned more than one character later on, according to gauged project interest. As main cast choices may have extended consideration, being assigned a character will not necessarily exclude you from also being assigned a main character later on.
Will all artist applicants be accepted?
As long as you have played Omori and are 15 or older, you may participate! The character you are assigned may be based on your art portfolio, and popular characters may be more competitive. The designs in Omori range from complex to very simple, so there should be something for every skill level.
Will all writer applications be accepted?
The writing applications are more selective, as writers may be working on any number of entries, not just one. Accepted writers may work on as many or as few entries as they would like. Artists and guests may suggest lines for entries, but they will not necessarily be used.
Do I have to animate?
All art entries will be three frames, but they do not necessarily have to be animated. They may have slight movement, as demonstrated by the in-game battle sprites, or they may use a “line boil” technique, where you trace your own drawing to create slight differences in each frame. This is attainable even for beginner artists!
Can I join the Discord server as a guest / spectator?
Yes, you may! But if you love Omori, we would love to see you apply for an entry! Even if you’re “not an artist”, your work will be accepted and appreciated.
How long does it take to be assigned an entry?
We should reach out to you within two weeks of your application. If you have not heard back, please reach out to a mod or fill out our Question & Suggestion form.
How long can I take to complete my entry?
Please have your entry completed within two months. If you need an extension for whatever reason, please apply for one via the Artist Extension Form, and a mod will reach out to you with the next steps.
Do I have to emulate Omori’s / Omocat’s art style?
No! In fact, everyone’s unique styles are hopefully what will make this project special!
Can I draw my own version / headcanon of the character?
Please keep the design and colors as close to your character’s canon appearance as possible. If you’d like to add accessories or make small changes, this may be possible with mod approval. If your character has contradicting canon appearances (like Headspace Basil’s hair color, for example), you may choose one or a combination thereof at your discretion.
Do I have to shade / render / draw backgrounds / etc?
Shading and rendering is entirely optional based on your art style and comfort level. Backgrounds and formatting will be provided — all we need from you are three transparent images of your character.
Can I write my own entry as an artist?
Yes, this is an option included within the application form! Your writing entry will still be subject to the same edits, approval, and collaboration as other writing entries.
Why is this project 15+?
As Omori is a mature rated game, we opted to have the project age requirement reflect this. We have allowed for participants the same age as the main characters, however, to accommodate the prominent younger fanbase.
I’m turning 15 within a few months! Can I still apply?
If you will be 15 by December 2025, please note this on your application and we can discuss exceptions.
Do I have to be active in the Discord server?
No. It’s easier for us to manage the project in one place, but you don’t have to interact or share wips publicly if you don’t want to. If you would like to keep in touch via Discord dms or in another place, reach out to one of the mods @akindredskillet or @quonit, and we can arrange something!
Have all Omori characters been drawn before?
Yes! Allmori is a project from 2022 created by @beanephine and collaborated on by over 150 artists. Allmori did not directly inspire Friend Facts!, but is its predecessor. Please have a look!
