Welcome to Fridge to Recipe ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application Fridge to Recipe (the "App") collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use our services on iOS and iPadOS devices.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect and How We Collect It
A. Information You Provide Directly (Stored Locally)
Ingredients and Recipe Preferences: When you enter ingredients, customize filters, or save favorite recipes, this information is stored locally on your device. We do not transmit or store your grocery items, ingredient inventories, or meal history on remote servers.
No Account Required: You are not required to create an account, register, or provide personal details (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to use the App.
B. Camera and Photo Library Access
Camera Access: The App requests camera permission (NSCameraUsageDescription) strictly when you choose to use the Fridge Scanner feature to photograph groceries in your fridge or pantry.
Photo Library Access: The App requests photo gallery access (NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription) strictly if you select an existing image of ingredients from your photo album.
Zero Remote Storage: Images captured or selected are processed solely to recognize ingredients for cooking recipes. Photos are never uploaded to remote cloud databases, never stored permanently, never used for facial identification, and never shared or sold.
C. Automatically Collected Information & Third-Party SDKs
To keep the core features of the App free for everyone, we display ads using trusted third-party services:
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob):
The App integrates the Google Mobile Ads SDK to serve contextual advertisements. Google AdMob may automatically collect non-personal technical data, such as:
Device identifiers (such as Identifier for Vendors / IDFV, or Advertising Identifier where authorized).
Coarse geographic location (derived from IP address).
App usage and interaction metrics (ad impressions, clicks).
Diagnostic and performance data to prevent fraud and ensure ad delivery.
For more information on how Google processes data, please visit Google's official privacy page: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
AI Recipe Generation Service:
When generating new recipes, ingredient keywords and dietary tags are sent securely via encrypted HTTPS to compute culinary recipes. No personal identity data is attached to these requests.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
Suggest and generate tailored cooking recipes based on the ingredients you input.
Allow you to save and access favorite recipes offline on your device.
Deliver contextual advertisements to support ongoing development and keep the App free.
Monitor app stability, detect crashes, and improve overall user experience.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third parties.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
In accordance with Apple App Store guidelines, third-party services integrated into the App maintain equal levels of data protection:
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Local Data: All recipe favorites, custom ingredients, and user preferences reside exclusively in local storage on your device. You can delete this data at any time by clearing the app data in iOS settings or by uninstalling the App.
Transient Photos: Any photo analyzed by the ingredient scanner is immediately discarded after ingredient recognition and is never retained.
Fridge to Recipe is rated 4+ and is intended for general audiences. The App does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will take prompt steps to remove such data.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Device Permissions: You can enable or revoke Camera and Photos permissions at any time via your device settings (Settings > Fridge to Recipe).
Ad Tracking Preferences: You can manage personalized ads or reset your advertising identifier directly in iOS Settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising / Tracking).
We take the security of your information seriously. Any data communication (such as recipe queries or ad requests) is transmitted using secure Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS) encryption.
