This Privacy Policy explains how Fridge Mate: Recipe Finder ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our Android application.
By using this app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Fridge photos (Camera)
Fridge Mate uses your device's camera to let you scan the inside of your fridge so the App can suggest what you can cook. Photos you take for fridge scanning are processed entirely on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers, not transmitted to us, and not stored by us in any form. Once the App has identified the items in the photo, you can review, keep, drop, or add items yourself — this detection list stays on your device.
1.2 Kitchen Items and preferences you enter
Information you manually enter — such as your Kitchen Items list, cuisine selection, mood, and salt/sugar/oil/spice preferences — is stored locally on your device to personalize recipe suggestions. We do not collect or receive this information on our servers.
1.3 Saved recipes, cooked history, and feedback
Recipes you save, your cooked history, and feedback you give after cooking are stored locally on your device and used only to improve the recipe suggestions shown to you within the App.
1.4 Information collected automatically
Fridge Mate does not require you to create an account or log in, so we do not collect your name, email address, or similar identity information directly. However, like most apps, we use third-party services that automatically collect certain technical information when you use the App:
Analytics data — such as device type, operating system version, app version, crash logs, session length, and general usage patterns (e.g., which features are used), collected to help us understand app performance and fix bugs.
Advertising data — such as your device's advertising identifier (e.g., Google Advertising ID), approximate location (derived from IP address), and ad interaction data, collected to show and measure ads within the App.
This automatically collected data is tied to your device, not to a personal account, since Fridge Mate has no login system.
2. Camera Permission
Fridge Mate requests camera permission for one purpose only: scanning your fridge so you can find recipes based on what's inside. The App does not access your camera in the background, does not access your photo gallery unless you explicitly choose an image, and does not upload or store any fridge photo. You can revoke camera permission at any time from your device's Settings — the App will simply fall back to manual entry via the Kitchen Items list.

4. How We Use Information
To operate core App features (recipe matching, cook-now suggestions, personalization)
To diagnose crashes and improve App stability and performance

To understand aggregate, anonymized usage trends so we can improve the App
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your fridge photos for any purpose beyond generating your on-device detection results.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We share limited, automatically-collected technical data (Section 1.4) only with our analytics and advertising service providers, for the purposes described above. We do not share your Kitchen Items list, saved recipes, cooked history, preferences, or fridge photos with anyone, because that information never leaves your device.
6. Data Storage and Security
Since Fridge Mate has no account system, the vast majority of your data (kitchen items, saved recipes, history, preferences) is stored locally in the App's storage on your device. This data is removed automatically if you uninstall the App or manually clear the App's storage from your device Settings.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any data that is processed through our third-party analytics and advertising providers, but no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Children's Privacy
Fridge Mate is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
8. Data Retention
Locally stored data (kitchen items, saved recipes, history, preferences) remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall the App — we have no copy of it. Aggregated analytics and advertising data is retained by our third-party providers according to their own retention policies.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
