Audretta is the ruler of Spire, though that may not have always been the case. She had to prove herself through a set of trials, and eventually succeeded and assumed her position. Some of the council was supportive, others against her, having grown used to being in power while Audra grew up.
It caused tension for a long time after Audra's ascension, but as time went on and she proved that her goals were for the best of her people, they grew to respect her, at the minimum. Audra is actively working to repair and reform areas that fell to the wayside under the Councils rule, which isn't a popular opinion for all since it limits the gold going to the royals.
The Royals are the Ruling Families of Spire, who hold positions that are important for the future of the land
Audretta is the ruler of Spire, though it took many trials to get there. Her mettle was tested in many ways, but she rules wisely with the support of her Council. She doesn't open up easily, and has grown a lot since she started her journey. She is working toward making her city and lands a better place for all, not just those with money.
The eldest, Riona is the calculated one. She has the best for Spire as a whole in her mind, and will do what needs to be done to achieve those ends.
Maelys is the emotional one, more prone to acting before thinking. She is a strong willed force of nature, never afraid to act when she feels the need.
While Persephone studied alongside Audra, she was not considered for the throne, sited to be too powerful and too strong willed to serve in such a manner.
The Chalon family is old money, and old royalty in Spire. Their bloodline was closely mingled with that of the Kings and Queens, and there have often been talks of merging the bloodlines once more. However Dove doesn't much care for any of that. She is still wild at heart, but her wildness is edged with cruelty and darkness. She is quick to have a double-edged word, often dropping compliments that are also insults. She is a force of nature, doing as she wills when she wills it. It wouldn't be surprising if she, despite being the elder, was passed over in favor of her younger sister inheriting the family name and fortunes.
When it comes to talks of merging bloodlines, Araquiel is the favored for such a union, for she is the one who is invested in court life. Araquiel is quieter, the moment of silence after thunder to her sister's crashing storm. She has a quiet temperament but a mind just as sharp if not more than her sisters. She is deeply involved in court and politics and intrigue, and is a force to be reckoned with. Not much is missed with her dark gaze, and she hoards knowledge for her own power. It is said that Araquiel is more likely to inherit the family fortunes.
Ornella is the eldest daughter of the Polaret family, and she works as the spymaster of the Queen. While her brother, Andire, reports back to their brother Chastel about the rumors and workings of the land they govern, Ornella does this on a much larger scale. To the outside world she is a bright and beautiful young lady of the Polaret family, a dazzling light in social circles and one of those people who seems to know everyone. She is bright and beautiful and not afraid to use any means necessary to gather the information she needs.
Andire is the youngest son of the Polaret family. The Polaret family are old royalty within Spire, who lead double lives handling the dark work of the Queendom. Andire is the assistant to his elder brother, Chastel, and spends most of his time gathering information about the locals in the land. Some might call him a spy, but he prefers to think of himself as the first line of defense. He travels the lands of Spire picking up rumors and tidbits of information, mainly within their own lands. He also acts as the go-between the Gallae family who lives within their lands.
Chastel is the eldest son of the Polaret family and is the head of the family. He is stern but not unkind, and works alongside Andire to oversee their holdings. While Chastel handles most of the court work and officially heads the family, he spends most of his time in the background letting his siblings bring him information. Chastel is very much a spider in a web, constantly monitoring the strings for movements. He reports directly to the Queen, leaving his siblings for most of the more unsavory work.
Era is the youngest of the Polaret family, a surprise child to aging parents. Her birth was her mothers death, and her father had passed not long before. Not entirely surprising that she took on the role of family assassin since she started her life in death. Era is seen to the outside world as the precious young lady of the Polaret family, the gift in hard times. She is soft spoken and gentle, a proper lady in all ways to the public. Era however does the dirty work behind the scenes, getting rid of problems before they can cause issue to the monarchy.
Astariou is the lady of the Abalac family, old money and land overseers in Spire. She works alongside Sunet, her elder brother, to govern the lands and care for their people. She manages much of the household and lands around their manor, running a tight ship. She is stern, but giving. She will not order what she can or will not do herself, and is well loved by the people for this attitude. She makes it her purpose to know the inner workings of many of the lives of those she governs, so to better serve them. Many prefer her to her elder brother, for they see her efforts while his remain hidden. There is worry among the common folk that she may be displaced if Sunet ever chooses to marry, and that his wife may not be as good as Astariou.
Sunet is the lord of the Abalac family, but prefers to keep to his books and numbers. He isn't much for social interaction and is considered a bit of a hermit. He would rather dive into the paperwork and numbers of running the land, and therefore does not have the best public image. Astariou, the eldest sister of the Abalac family, runs most of the areas that has to do with public interaction for him. While he is not a bad lord, most find him strange for when he does talk to others it is normally quite boring talk. Although there are fears he will marry and replace Astariou with a new wife, that would require him getting his head out of the books.
Rennyn is the young lord of the Abalac family, and spends a lot of time traveling the land and visiting other royals. He is young and charming and greatly fancies the idea that he will be a protector of the land, focusing on training and shamelessly liking the flirting of the young ladies who see him training. He perhaps should use his brain more than his muscles, but either way he is determined to be the greatest knight ever known.
Finnea was a sickly child, and has only recently made her debut as a royal of the Abalac line. She is making up for lost time by enjoying the pleasures of court life and making every minute of it count. Some would perhaps suggest (never to their face, mind you) that the Abalac family rein in the young lady of the house. She has a taste for the expensive and enjoys rubbing elbows with the rich and the noteworthy of Spire.
Ascal is the youngest of the Gallae family, a wealthy family who was recently raised to nobility. They hold a small bit of land within the lands overseen by the Polaret family. While Ascal is blindly smart, he is not the best in social situations so he leaves most of the talking to his elder brother, Niedox. Ascal manages much behind the scenes, overseeing the earnings and other paperwork that is required for running their parcel of land. He has a desperate want to prove himself and his family as good enough to stand among the long-term royals.
Kianise is the eldest of the Gallae family. Spoiled by her wealthy parents, Kianise is the opposite of what you would want from a royal. She is a party princess, preferring to spend her days gambling her money in games of chance and having large parties rather than participating in royal duties. While in name she is the Lady of the Manor, Kianise takes no responsibility with it. She is both loved and hated by the common folk, for she doesn't shy away from interacting with them and partying along side them, but neither does she use her position to any benefit of them. There have been talks of ways to bring her to heel, often involving a political marriage and simply getting her out of Spire.
Niedox is the middle of the Gallae family. While his younger brother Ascal is the brains behind their operations, Niedox is the public face. Charming and quick witted, Niedox makes the speeches and talks to the folk in their small domain, ensuring happiness for all. He is a strong presence in their holdings, and does his best to ensure every person has a voice. He relies heavily on Ascal for the background runnings of the land.
The Aglaea family is newer Royalty in Spire, raised from a long line of successful Merchants. Eurus is the official 'head' of the family, but he shares much of the responsibility with his siblings. He heads up the Windy Region branch of the family business, and does it well. He spends most of his time at their manor, overseeing the daily operations as well as managing his branch from afar, trusting his advisors to report back to him. He is married to Cleome, who heads up the Plains Region branch. Their marriage was a political one, strengthening ties between the young royals and royalty from the Plains Region, but there is much respect between the couple.
Seraphim herself oversees the branch of the family company that deals with Mountains Region trade, and is a soft spoken and quiet mare. She is soft and delicate to most, like a newly-budded flower. Her gentle ways and soft appearance make many underestimate her cutthroat abilities as a merchant. She is a vicious saleslady, always after the best deal and greatest bargain. She travels often through the Mountains region, and thankfully her husband, Theran, is of the same mentality. Despite being married it seems more like a work partnership between the pair, but it is not a loveless one.
Notus oversees the Swamp Branch of the family buisiness, and is perhaps the shadiest of the siblings. He is not afraid to traffic in potentially illegal goods, and has several underworld contacts. He is smart about it, however, and does everything by the book so technically nothing is quite illegal. He is charming and well spoken, with a preference for the finer things in life. He prefers to let others do the dirty work and reap the benefits of any deals that come his way.
Flute oversees the Desert Region trade branch, and spends a lot of her time delving for treasures right alongside those who work for her. Flute is a bright and free mare, the youngest of the Aglaea family, and wants to prove herself worthy of the family name and the branch she oversees. She is a terrible flirt, and will drive a harder bargain while you are distracted by her charms. She is free with her love, and perhaps the most 'modern' of her family, staying up to date on the latest slang and hot topics. She is young and greatly enjoys the benefits of youth and money, but nevertheless is a hard mistress to please when it comes to trade.
The Aglaea family is newer Royalty in Spire, raised from a long line of successful Merchants. Theran joined this family and took their name upon wedding Seraphim, the second oldest daughter. Having come from a merchant family himself, Theran brought wealth and new trade connections in the Icy Region when he joined the family. He and Seraphim, despite their marriage, do not spend a lot of time together and many speculate they have more of a business marriage than one made from the heart, but there is love between the couple and deep understanding. Theran heads the Icy Region branch of the family business, and spends a lot of time on the road.
Cleo was married into the family through Eurus in a somewhat controversial political marriage. Her family was royalty in the Plains Region, and as such she was raised to be a proper lady of the house. Eurus, her husband, accepted the marriage mainly as part of a trade pact between the families. Despite the start of their relationship, Cleo found herself falling for her husband, growing to respect him and care for him as time went on. Eurus empowered her to be more than just a political game piece, and taught her much of the trade business. She has recently taken over the Plains region branch of the family business, and wants to do well both for herself and to prove herself to her husband.
Mistral is constantly half in the clouds, her mind somewhere else. Perhaps its her connection to the Windy Magic, but she follows where the wind takes her and is constantly puzzling over ideas and inventions.
Aletris is more at home in the outdoors than his twin, Mistral is. He prefers to spend his time outdoors, but has a quizzical mind similar to his twin. His however is more geared toward plants and their growth and uses.
Kassia is bold and loud, and perhaps the leader out of the cousins. She could be considered manipulative by some, knowing exactly how to play on others thoughts and emotions.
Briar is a follower, always up for Kassia's games. Despite his twin being the leader, Briar often tries to take the blame (not that anyone believes him guilty).
Araluen tries very hard to play the part of the loner, but its clear to anyone with two brain cells that he is constantly looking for approval from his cousins and their parents.
Zahara is like a soft candle flame. She is gentle and nurturing, having a soft spot for youngsters. She wants nothing more than to grow up and have a family of her own, something more stable than her single mother.
The Leovan family is minor Royalty and the Hunters of the Queen. Folas roams the land with his sister, Wistari, hunting down criminals and traitors to the crown. In addition to this they oversee much of the livestock and farms, ensuring compliance to the laws and taxes. Despite this he is well respected by the people because they know he and Wistari keep them safe. Folas is the elder of the siblings, and is soft spoken and quite polite most of the time. However he is uncompromising with those who seek to disrupt the peace.
Wistari roams the land with her brother, Folas, hunting down criminals and traitors to the crown. In addition to this they oversee much of the livestock and farms, ensuring compliance to the laws and taxes. Wistari is the younger of the pair, and has found her own way into the hearts of their people. She is never without a kind word or gentle touch, caring much for the people like they were her own family. To those who seek to harm them, however, she is a force of nature. It is said you are in trouble if Folas is after you. It is known that you are already a goner if Wistari is on your trail.
The Middle Class are the wealthy of Spire, one step below Royal. They may hold some power locally, but are not as important for the decision making.
Dirosi is what one could consider a mayor, living in Lohten. He is a local leader, and took on much of the responsibilities of answering to the Royals. He is a smooth talker, and a go between for the common folk and their rulers.
Dahlia is a purveyor of unique goods, located in Lohten in Spire. She is known as the kind of person who can find almost anything... if you know who to ask. To the common person, she owns a small apothecary specializing in potions and other trinkets.
Lyrei lives in Weslyn, and serves as a local go between for the people and the Abalac family. She is a patient and kind mare, never with anything bad to say. She had her daughter, Nixsia, spend most of their time working alongside the people.
Nixsia works alongside her mother, Lyrei, serving as a go between. She is still young and learning, from honing her craft as a farmer to learning the royal etiquette.
Rumia travels the land, helping keep the peace. She is a quiet presence, but a welcome one, always stepping forward to help when needed.
Those considered Low Class are quite simply the residents. While they do not hold positions of power, without them the entire system would crumble.
Piren considers herself a free spirit and adventurer, following where the wind takes her. She also likes collecting shiny rocks.
Runedele is a alchemy and horticultre apprentice, with a love for plants. She is currently learning different plants and their uses.
Maristela is a lady's maid, recently sworn to serve and watch over the princess by the royals families. She earned Audra's trust, and in return, Maris came to love her.
Romantica is a local seamstress, specializing in formal wear. But for those who ask the right questions, she can also fashion garments that double as armor.
Ensanya works in Lohten, in a tavern. She is a server there, making a meager living while she saves up to buy her own tavern.
Flykra works with Ensanya, the pair following their dreams to one day have their own tavern.
Koldran and his brother, Valore, are apprentices at the local supplies shop. They are learning the art of trade and commerce.
Valore and his brother, Koldran, are apprentices at the local supplies shop. They are learning the art of trade and commerce.
Azrelie is the local librarian in The Spiral City, in charge of their books and records. She is a quiet mare with a sharp mind.
Vaer sometimes works alongside Az, but mainly spends her time hunting down artifacts (that she later donates to the library)
Adriatta is a bard in the employ of the royals. She travels the land singing and telling tales of Spires history.
Dhiren is a lower ranked guard, and spends most of his time patrolling the lands of Spire. He hopes to eventually be appointed to a position within the Spiral City
