Sirona is the Healer on High of Torre, her land of knowledge and healing. She is a gentle mare, who prefers to wear a fox tail instead of her Quirlicorn tail ("Knocks into too many things, you see.")
She is gifted in healing magic and has created a land where all may learn and grow, or come for healing.
L116 is a land bordering the mountains, with a river running through it. Both of the major cities are along this river, making river travel very popular between the two. With their strong alliances and generally neutral standpoint, Torre is a place that is both well protected and open to all.
Named after the land in which it formed, Torre is a city built around a central tower. The tower rises high in the center, with smaller squared off buildings resting below. The city spreads out a bit haphazardly from the tower, buildings built more for need than by planning. Torre is the city of healing, where young healers come to learn and thrive. Those seeking healing are welcome, for they treat all ailments from the physical, to the mental or spiritual.
Torre is a beautiful, open city with winding streets. The scent of herbs, salves, and good food is strong on the air, and vendor stalls are just as likely to be seen as shops. Much of what has sprung up around the tower is of benefit to the city itself, shopkeepers who specialize in medicinal herbs being most common. But where herb growers rest, good food is soon to follow and Torre is also home to some exceptional dishes. Many shops are no more than half tent hybrids, with open entryways and flowing swathes of gorgeous silks and fabrics, able to be pulled apart to enjoy the normally nice Plains weather. Some are no more than four posts with a roof, with thicker hides sitting to the side to keep the inside dry if rain comes.
The Tower is the (magic) Healers tower, where they live and work. The smaller buildings are the physicians place, where they treat with a variety of herbs and commonplace medicine.
The rest of the buildings of Torre are a mix of shades of brown, sprinkled with bright colors of tapestries, curtains, and beads strung to individualize the buildings. Vendors, stalls, and other forms of sale take place among the main streets, most stalls made from a mixture of wood and flowing silks and cloths that help keep the sun away. While Torre is known for its healers, its lesser known market is in spices and foods, and one can always smell it on the gentle breezes. Remedies and flavors can be found on every street, from a simple brew made to help one sleep at night, to more potent painkillers made into a simple toffee like form.
One’s station is often displayed in the form of silks and scarves worn, to even more elaborate adornments of beads, or gemstones. For formal occasions the Healers also are adorned, in shimmering silks of white, with silver and gold accents giving nod to their twin city, Arcanum.
While Torre is the city of healing, Arcanum is the city of learning. Arcanum is graced with two towers, and much better city planning than Torre. Much of it is made of stone, brought in by physical or magical labor, and erected into the straight street city. The Tower of Gold rises to one side, while the Tower of Silver rises to the other. The two towers are joined by a bridge at the top, but it is said that there are magical methods within to travel from one place to the next.
Arcanum is most notable by the two towers rising high above the surrounding buildings, one gilded in Silver, one in Gold. The majority of the city is shades of grey from the stone used to craft it, and nearly every street is paved and easily traversable for carts. It is not nearly as packed as The Torre, nor as loud. Many of the improvements to the city are logical ones, ones born from necessity rather than an urge to make improvements. Aqueducts rise high over the city to provide water to the towers, for often the Scholars of Arcanum are busy with their studies and do not wish to venture from their towers. In fact, the Aqueducts carry the water to the top, where it flows down within the tower as a waterfall, gathering in basins on every level before forming broad pools at the bottom level. Clever engineering has drains from the bottom to keep the pools from overflowing, said to have been formed out below the land to go back to the river, providing a constant flow of fresh water.
The Gold Tower is where those who study the physical world reside, covering a vast wealth of physical knowledge. The Silver Tower is where those who study the non-physical and arcane world reside. While those of the Gold may study the physical aspects of magic and how it works and can be manipulated, those of the Silver would study the lore, myths, and studies of where magic comes from.
Vast knowledge is shared between the two towers in the form of their vast libraries, stored in a strange underground chamber that requires permission to access. There are writings and books there that have been collected that tell of times far past, as well as objects of great and cursed power that are hidden away from common sight. While the upper libraries, smaller by far, hold knowledge, the true treasure of Arcanum lies in that hidden library below the ground.
The Scholars often choose one of the towers to focus on, and often wear adornments either in Silver or Gold to signify their allegiance between the two. Citizens of the city often will pay homage to one or the other, and work quietly to allow the scholars peace for their studies.
The city houses many market quarters, each dedicated to an area of interest. Books, potions, ancient spells, strange artifacts, truly nothing is far from unusual to be found in the markets. It is said nearly anything can be found in Arcanum's markets... for the right price.
Lunaris, or Luna as she prefers, is the High Healer of the Torre. While Sirona is responsible for the whole land, Luna focuses her attentions on the Tower and the city around it, managing much of the smaller day to day things.
Ilkay is the High Scholar of Arcanum. He works with Sirona, and manages the city of Arcanum, as well as overseeing the towers and the research and learning done there. As the half brother of 1785 Khaalida of Espeor, he is also the official Ambassador for the Alliance.
Sirona was a young mare with a dream - a land of knowledge, a land of healing and learning and revering the world around them. To make this dream a reality she quested across the regions, and was awarded with land from the Deities. From this she built the foundation of Torre, the land of knowledge.
As the baroness, she oversees the whole of the land, but her favored title is the Healer on High.
Second only to Sirona, Lunaris (or Luna as she prefers) was struck by the passion of the young baroness. She agreed to join her on her dream, and spends most of her time in the Tower. While she has an analytical brain well suited for handing most of the day to day things, Luna has a passion for flowers and their medicinal uses and will often sneak away to the garden for a few moments of peace during the day.
Ilkay has a unique position among the residents of Torre. While being the High Scholar, and overseer of the Silver and Gold Towers in Arcanum, he is also the official ambassador for the Alliance. Being the half sibling of Khaalida, Queen of Espeor, he oversees most of the negotiations and treaties. He is a bit of a hermit and prefers to spend most of his time studying in his tower, however.
Asteri has been devoted to healing her entire life. She grew up in Torre, learning the physical healing arts while waiting for her magic to develop. She was so convinced that she would receive Healing magic, that when she didn't develop it and instead a strong Empathy magic came to her she was taken to Espeor to learn under Khaalida's tutelage. This opened her eyes to other methods and ways to heal, and she set off across the lands to learn different plants and healing methods, namely spending time in the swamp with Shaakir, as well as spending some time in the Icy Region. Now, she spends a good portion of her year as a traveling healer, returning to Torre during the colder months to study and further her craft.
Oren is a Healer of the Tower, with a strong focus on potion making. He tends to the gardens and tends to keep to himself, spending most of his time with Lunaris if he interacts with anyone. While some may say he doesn't have the best bedside manner, he is good with the younglings and has a calm and steady nature.
Lumi is a scholar of the Silver Tower of Arcanum, studying the relationship between parentage, environment and magic development. She is researching into the how's and whys magic manifests as it does, and is working closely with Lillium, a Gold Tower Scholar, to further study the physical manifestations of magic in a Quirlicorn.
Lillium is a scholar of the Gold Tower of Arcanum, studying the relationship between physical traits and magic. She is reasearching how magic manifests and looking for dependencies on physical traits and it's development. She is working closely with Lumi, a scholar of the Silver Tower, to study how magic has been theorized to manifest in correlation with current studies.
Lixue is a healer of Torre, and specializes in rehabilitation. He studied for a time in the Gold Tower, and took those studies of the body and the way it works to help those with long term and not quite healed injuries regain their previous levels of mobility and navigation. He is a cheery guy, always high energy and moving. In fact, its harder to get him to sit still and rest than it is to get him going on a new project.
Demetria is a sweet soul with a no-nonsense approach to life. She devotes her time to caring for patients, and with them she is sweet, nurturing, and the embodiment of good. But she has little time for small talk or other time wasting activities - her time is better spent with her patients after all. A bit of a boor at a party, but certainly the one you want to see to your wounds. If you get past her unpleasant non working exterior she does have a sense of humor and a deep compassion. One might even say she holds her personal life so far apart for her own safety. You can't get hurt if you don't let anyone too far in.
Regalia's area of study is anything to do with ancient music and stories. She is working on her master compendium, "A Tale of the Times", which is a collection of ancient music from different eras and regions, as well as stories and myths. Her ultimate goal is to have it put to music, so that all can listen to history and feel the rush of emotions that she does when she is researching.
Despite her smaller size, Iseult makes up for it in speed. While she is not a student of the Silver or Gold towers, she holds the important position of Runner. She spends her days traversing both towers, delivering supplies, messages, and general news.
An orphan who found her home in Torre, Thimble is now an apprentice healer. She is eager to learn, and loves hearing about any kind of new ways of healing and bringing good to the world.
Galen is a scholar of the Gold Tower, researching alchemy and how metals may be transformed.
Ura is an apprentice healer. As the son of Sirona, he has big shoes to fill when it comes to his learning and betterment.
Luuedei is an apprentice Scholar, not yet sworn to either tower. She has an interest in healing, but is more interested in the research behind it rather than actively helping others.
Clover is an apprentice Healer learning how to mend. She has a focus on mending the mind, and how dreams can help others overcome things.
Studying under Regalia, Kaliko is an apprentice of the Silver Tower. His main focus is music, and so he spends a lot of his time assisting Regalia in her readings.
