Fresh Words-An International Literary Magazine is inviting submissions for a special one minute play anthology "Hello Godot".
1. Theme and Tone
Plays must explore existential themes such as meaning, futility, waiting, hope, despair, or the absurdity of existence.
Tone can range from darkly humorous to poignant or tragic, but should align with the spirit of existential literature (e.g., Beckett, Camus, Sartre).
Submissions should resonate with the idea of "waiting for Godot" or the search for meaning in a seemingly indifferent universe.
2. Format and Structure
Each play must be exactly one minute in length when performed. This typically translates to 1-2 pages of dialogue or action.
Plays should be minimalist, with a focus on concise, impactful dialogue and action.
Maximum of 2-3 characters per play to maintain simplicity and focus.
Stage directions should be minimal but clear.
3. Originality
Submissions must be original, unpublished works.
Plays should not infringe on any existing copyrights or intellectual property.
Adaptations or reimaginings of existing works (e.g., Waiting for Godot) are acceptable as long as they are transformative and original.
4. Submission Details
Submit your play as a PDF or Word document with the file name: HelloGodotYourNamePlayTitle.
Include a cover page with:
Play title

Playwrights will retain copyright to their individual works.
6. Deadline
Submissions must be received by November 28th, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered.

Selected playwrights will be notified via email by December 5th, 2025.
We look forward to receiving your one-minute existential masterpieces! Let’s explore the absurd, the profound, and the fleeting moments that define our existence together.

Call for Submissions: “Mistletoe Moments: A Christmas Micro Fiction Anthology”
Celebrate the season in all its complexity—one tiny, powerful story at a time.
We’re seeking original micro fiction for Mistletoe Moments, a vibrant anthology that captures the many faces of the winter holidays. From quiet acts of kindness to chaotic family dinners, from snowy village traditions to futuristic Yuletide AI, we want stories that surprise, move, and resonate.
This year, we’re especially eager to explore subthemes that reflect the full emotional and cultural spectrum of the season. Your story doesn’t need to include tinsel or carols—but it should speak to the spirit (or spirits!) of this time of year.
Subthemes We Love
Second Chances: Reconciliation, forgiveness, or new beginnings under the mistletoe.
Holiday Hustle: The chaos of last-minute shopping, gig economy elves, or working through the season.
Solstice & Light: Stories centered on darkness, light, renewal—whether spiritual, seasonal, or personal.
Unlikely Traditions: Unique or invented holiday customs from any culture or future world.
Quiet Joy: Small, tender moments often overlooked in the holiday rush.
Festive Faux Pas: Awkward encounters, gift-giving disasters, or well-meaning mishaps.
Winter Ghosts: Hauntings—literal or metaphorical—during the longest nights.
No Snow, No Problem: Celebrating Christmas (or equivalent) in tropical, desert, or non-traditional climates.
Alone Together: Stories of solitude, chosen family, or unexpected connection.
Reimagined Legends: Fresh takes on Santa, Krampus, La Befana, or other holiday figures.
Note: Your story doesn’t need to fit these exactly—but they’re sparks to inspire!
Submission Guidelines
1. Theme & Content
Must be Christmas- or winter holiday–themed (broadly interpreted: includes Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, New Year’s, Diwali (if celebrated in winter in your region), or original winter festivals).
Must align with one or more of the subthemes above—or offer a compelling new angle.
Keep it PG-13: no explicit content, graphic violence, or hate speech.
2. Length
Strict maximum of 300 words (title not included).
Must be a complete narrative with emotional weight or a twist—not just a mood piece.
3. Originality & Rights
Must be unpublished.
Simultaneous submissions are allowed; please withdraw immediately if accepted elsewhere.
4. Formatting
Submit as .doc, .docx, or .pdf.
Use 12 pt standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, Arial).
Include your legal or pen name, email address, story title, and word count in the document.
Paste your full story in the body of your email as a backup.
5. How to Submit
Email to: specialanthologyfreshwordsmag@gmail.com
Subject line: “Mistletoe Moments Submission – [Your Story Title]”
6. Deadline
November 28, 2025 (11:59 PM UTC).

A short author bio and social media promotion included.
Note: This is a non-paying market at this time.
8. Eligibility
Open globally to writers of all backgrounds.
9. Questions?
Contact: specialanthologyfreshwordsmag@gmail.com with “Query” in the subject line.
