About Sling TV

There are some hurdles to live streaming US TV channels. With the help of the service sling.com, the reproduction of CNN, NBC, AMC and more also succeeds from Germany, but is associated with costs. We explain how this works.

In three subscription packages, Sling offers live TV on the one hand and on-demand content of the individual channels on the other. These are, for example, recently broadcast episodes of current TV series, or movies that celebrate their TV premiere. Sling offers up to 53 channels, prices start at 20 US dollars (in the first month and for a broadcast package) and end at 45 US dollars (from the 2nd month for both transmitter packages).

If you want to watch the latest TV series and are therefore interested in the offer, you should first check which TV networks are represented at all - because unfortunately Sling is not all-encompassing. In fairness, the ABC and CBS networks are missing, and PBS is also missing. Other important content, such as NBC, CNN, AMC and Fox, is available.

If you want to see the offers via sling.com, you will already encounter the first hurdle - a country lock. So let's first look at how to get around it quickly. This can be achieved cost-effectively, for example, with a DNS service such as Unblock-US. In the long term, the path via VPN server is more expensive, but also more powerful, for a first test often trial periods are available. Both solutions redirect your traffic through U.S. servers.
