Over the past decade, mobile-phone cameras have changed how photographs are made, used, and looked at. While the camera once functioned chiefly as a tool for preserving the past, today people use mobile phones to share their visual experience in real time and with unprecedented intimacy. This exhibition explores what happens when artists are partnered with other artists and the pairs engage in a visual dialogue using only their phones.

I mean, if I want to show someone a picture or a video, I can just open the VZ Cloud app and all my pics n videos are right there. So, why keep them on my phone as well? A lot of my videos are large and take up big spaces. Just thought it might be a good idea.

Having enough space on your phone is crucial. I want to make sure that we are setting the right expectations so you don't lose precious pictures. If you back up to the Cloud and don't back up again, you are able to delete the photos without losing them on the Cloud. However, if you back up to the Cloud, remove the photos, and then do another backup without the photos, the Cloud will then mirror how your phone looks (sans photos). You do have the option of backing up your phone to a computer or the iCloud if you would prefer.

Yes. Once you successfully backup pictures and videos to the cloud, you can delete them from your phone. I would check your cloud account before deletion just to make 1000% sure that everything is looking good.

Hi, I have an LG enV TOUCH phone, and I took a few pictures with them that I'd like to move to my computer. My computer does not have the necessary hardware to do this via bluetooth, and I didn't get any software CD when I ordered the phone. I'd like to know if there's any possible way to get the pictures from my phone onto my computer using the USB cable that came with the phone (that plugs into the bottom of the phone and the charger). I do not have a microSD card, either, so if there's any way to directly access the pictures from my computer, I'd appreciate it. (I also know the method of e-mailing pictures messages to yourself, but I would like to save my texts for other things, if possible.)

Secondly, I will have a microSD card soon. I know how to use a microSD/USB adapter to move data from phone to computer (I have worked with an LG Dare before, and I assume the process is similar), but I am also wondering, in addition to doing it without a card, if I will need to purchase the adapter for me to be able to transfer data from the card to my computer.

Just hit CLR or end when you get that message to "sync" - then on the phone, go to Menu>>Tools and Settings>>Tools>>USB Mass Storage. It will connect and you can see the phone as a drive on your computer. You aren't going to "SYNC", so you need to get out of that mode and just view the contents of the SD card via USB.

I tried doing "Tools and Settings" > "Tools" > "USB Mass Storage" while my phone is hooked up to my computer, but all I get is the message "CARD NOT INSERTED." Is this how I access pictures without the aid of a USB adapter, given that I have a card?

Another option (though a bit clunky, it works) is to send a picture message to your email address. The Settings and Tools>>>Tools>>>USB Mass Storage option should work though; if I have my SD card installed in my phone, it is simply seen as an extra drive without any other configuration. Without the SD card in the phone, I have to go through the menus on the phone to see what is on the phone's memory.

I get the same "insert MicroSD card" message on my LGVersa. It does seem that data should just pass thru the phone right to the PC. I'm guessing LG/Verizon had a "logical" reason for prepping your phone for storage transfers. I haven't purchased a card yet, but I will just to see if it works.

Question for those who travel. Do you feel that phone photography has gotten to the point (as far as image quality) that you would feel comfortable only taking a mobile phone on a trip? I ask because my wife and I are traveling to Israel for about 3 weeks and while I have decided not to take my mirrorless camera (an Olympus EM5mk3) along - basically based on our last thee trips where I left it home but took my iPhone 14 and my compact camera (Sony RX100mk5) only. And a recent trip to Florida (St. Augustine to Key West) where I only took the iPhone - but while Florida we have been to many times, the other two trips were to the French Wine Country and Spain which we had never seen. I would take the Sony to have a second camera in addition to the iPhone (always have a backup especially when traveling somewhere I don't plan on visiting again), but I have seen so many photos - both my own and in various iPhone forums - where the results have been impressive.

So the question: how many have just taken their iPhone (or whatever mobile phone they use) and felt comfortable with taking just the phone?

If it's a short trip with potencial for something interesting, I usually take a light/pocketable camera too. Currently it's a RX100 and it just goes on the other front pocket. For wide angle, phone does good enough for me on any light. For zoom, camera does it better, mainly in low light. I like to edit the raw from my cameras. An additional advantage is keeping the phone with good battery level during a long day.

It it's a longer trip and/or to a long awaited, interesting/beautiful place, or for some specific activity (sometimes plane spotting on my case where phones does not do it at all, I do take my RP with some lenses on my backpack. Even if I don't carry them all on every walk!

Phone cameras are getting better though. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra have optical zoom 3X and 5X both image stabilized. The X6 pro have optical zoom 3X image stabilized. Optical zoom are making its way towards upper-mid range phones. I should have a good selection to choose from by the time I upgrade my phone next year.

The Oppo Find X6 Pro uses a relatively big 1/1.56" sensor for both its 2.8X (65mm) telephoto as well as its ultrawide (15mm), both are also image stabilized. Let's hope this sets the bar higher for the next flagship phones.

Focal length x sensor size is a physical compromise, I assume you know very well, so there are some limitations on having longer focal lenghts inside of a phone and how big the sensor and the aperture can be...

I can only expect better and better cameras on phones, but at the same time, I think it's unfortunate and even a shame that the modern processing on the phones didn't reach compact and pocketable superzooms and tough cameras. There is a good field on them and part of the abandon on the market is also because of a partial abandon on their development!!

Tough cameras, by the way!! After 4 years without being on one, I went to the beach last month, and took a cheap kodak tough camera! How liberating was it, entering the water with my family without any fear, being the water itself, salt, the waves and movement... withoug having to risk my smartphone for that! Modern phone camera processing on these undoubtely would make it all better!

I would say the landscape photography is not as good as camera. On the other hand, travel photos (where family members are in foreground and sights are in background) are actually better with mobile phone. Mobile photos have HDR that will expose foreground subject and background easily. And mobile camera has larger depth of field, so great of typical travel snap shots.

I usually take my Samsung S9 smartphone and Fuji XF10 aps-c compact camera, but lately I tend to leave the Fuji at home. Quality is way better on that amazing Fuji cam, but I tend to keep it simpler and Samsung S9 is still a good phone with that f 1.5 aperture.

I have over 7GB of internal space left on my phone yet it keeps telling me to delete files and pictures. I deleted all of my pictures and some big apps but it continues to tell me the same thing when I try to take pictures. I have a droid RAZR mini. It has no space to put a SD card in. Unless I can somehow take off the back. Someone help please. 0852c4b9a8
