Has this problem ever been resolved? It seems lots of folks have had this same problem but I couldn't find a definitive reason why or a solution. I have a Pixel 4A 5G and just started a paid subscription a few days ago. I can listen for about thirty minutes or so, and then for no apparent reason, it stops. The only way to get it started again is to exit the app and then try again. This glitch needs to be fixed...please!

Thanks for following up with that information, @Marcia13. I've included troubleshooting steps below. Feel free to try out the most applicable for specific device and let me know what worked or what didn't work.

When updating the OS on Android devices, the battery optimization on all apps may be automatically turned back on by default. This can cause performance issues or interfere with playback when the app is backgrounded. Please try the following steps:

Due to the numerous models of Android devices, we are unable to provide step by step instructions for every device. Please look up the steps to manage battery optimization for the specific make and model of your device and disable this for the Pandora app if the above does not apply.

1. Sometimes it will occur when my phone locks but the small Pandora panel will appear if I tap the screen; however, the features don't work. In other words I can't start Pandora again from that panel. Other times the music will stop at the beginning of a new song, or even as another song is playing (the Pandora full screen displays) but again, trying to resume the song doesn't work. The only thing that does work is to close Pandora, reopen it, and press play.

Many thanks for the suggestions! Actually I thought I had done all suggested before, but upon checking I found that "Unrestricted" had somehow become unchecked. After making sure all other suggestions were enabled/disabled, the problem seems to have been resolved. Hopefully permanently! I sure do appreciate your response.

I have a Galaxy S21 and am using the free Pandora app. Whenever I am using the app on my phone and the display times out, Pandora goes to the next song then stops. To get the next song going, I have to unlock my phone. Pandora then works normally until the display times out, again. This happens if I'm listening at home on my phone or when bluetoothed into my car audio. Can't find a setting to address this. Any ideas about how to get Pandora to continue playing after the display has timed out? Thanks in advance!

Then a song will play as expected; however, once the song ends another one will not automatically play, unless the screen is awake (like when I'm & have the map app open). It happens whether connected to my car, headphones, or just playing on the phone's speaker. I have a pandora plus account.

We recently bought a used Toyota Prius that has Bluetooth installed with the JBL audio system. Whenever my phone (stock Nexus 4 running 4.4.4) connects to it, the car sends a "play" command that automatically starts the most recently used music app (Google Play Music, Pandora, etc.). It doesn't matter if no music app was open on the phone, the command opens it up and it starts playing no matter what, and there's no way on the car to stop it from sending the command, as mentioned here. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

There's a Bluetooth connect & Play app that can intercept the incoming "play" command. While it was originally designed to let you start a specific music app playing when a specific Bluetooth device connects, you can instead select "STOP music from playing" to keep any app from starting when the car connects.

Another work around if other method fail, if the android phone always use the same music player to autoplay when bluetooth is connected. Just create a silent mp3 file and rename it AAA.mp3, this will ensure it will be the top of the file list. make it like 5 minutes or 1 hour, whatever you want. file size will be bigger though.

In my case, it will always use the default music player to autoplay. So i just put only that silent mp3 in the playlist. It will still autoplay, but a silent audio. Then I just turn on my favourite music player or podcast.

Usually with a music app, the music player will show up on your lock screen allowing basic controls. It'll show up for me when I first turn my phone on, but after that it goes away and doesn't come back. I already checked my lock screen and notification settings, I feel like this is tied to whatever bug is fading out the skip and repeat buttons too. Please look into it, I relied heavily on this feature and I'll probably go back to Amazon or Spotify if it doesn't get fixed.

So I finally broke down n paid for Pandora premium and now Pandora won't show up on my lock screen like it did in the free version. Is there a way to fix this? I'm really enjoying the unlimited skips and no ads.

When Pandora is playing I see the basic controls on my lock screen. If I pause it and the screen times out, it won't bring back the controls. It just disappears entirely. Is there a way to keep it active on the lock screen without having to unlock my phone to resume play?

Seriously is there an update on this bug. It's very annoying to have to unlock the phone and open the app skip or repeat a song. Please don't recommend the trouble shooting options, been there, done that, and it doesn't work. Maybe instead of giving the same poor response get the engineers to do their jobs and fix the bug!

Hey, same issue... No music controls on my lock screen... I have to unlock my phone and swipe down the status bar to skip songs.. I have completed all the recommended steps and still not working.. I have android 11 LG v60

Yay!! I fixed mine!! So.. I completely disabled all notifications in the app settings.. Force stopped the app, cleared the cache, then re-enabled all notifications ... And now I have my control widget... Hope this helps others

Thanks for letting us know about this. Glad to hear that you were able to fix this using the steps to disable your notifications from your app settings. I'm sure this will help other listeners experiencing this issue.
