If you want to run a Minecraft multiplayer server by yourself things get kind of involved (see this wiki article for a tutorial). First make sure you can use java from the command line. On Linux and macOS this should already be set up but on Windows you might have to tinker with the PATH environment variable.

Not long ago I started a minecraft world on a new 1.9 snapshot and friends wanted to join so I took my world file and dropped it in a server. Now a little later they are losing intrest in it already but I'm still having my fun. I tried copying the world file back in the saves folder but then I ran into a little problem. I started with the progress I was in before I put it on a server. I was in the same location with the same health, hunger, items, armor, ... This wasn't all a problem when I transfered it to a server. So how do I end up with the progress I was at when I last played on the server?

Both of these locations are saved to with your current in-game data when you are playing singleplayer, but only your UUID-named file is updated when playing multiplayer. The problem you are having is that only your UUID-named file was updated when playing on the server, but now the world is singleplayer again the "Player" file has taken precedence, which was only saved to on singleplayer (and thus remains in the state it was when you last played singleplayer).

So I set up my Minecraft server but something is wrong any block I place will immediately disappear I also use the tech guns mod and the guns don't fire there is also a really powerful sword that came with a weapons mod that is supposed to do 24 damage but instead it does almost no damage at all, the entire forge server works fine and I can place and destroy the blocks that aren't from mods but the mods just don't work, you can still see them in your inventory but when you try to place or use nothing happens there is one mod that works which is the mobends mod but I don't think that really counts and me and my brother tried to join together and it all worked but when either of us held something that was from a mod nothing would be there and I really need help

"I want to go to the supermarket and buy oranges, but the supermarket is closed, so I went to the clothes store instead. Why do they not have oranges?" Just because launching the Forge server doesn't work, does not mean you can just launch a vanilla server, it will not get you anywhere. You must launch the Forge jar if you want a Forge server.

I tried removing my mods and the server worked but because there were no mods it acted like a normal server, also the way the command line works on windows is different from the way terminal works on mac

I figured something out, I started adding mods one by one and the ones that made the server crash I didn't use and the server works perfectly but there is one problem after playing for a minute or so the game, not the server crashes and says it crashed whilst ticking entity so all I need to know is how to fix this

My mate suspects some members of my server for cheating using player editors to edit their inventory however I'm the mod, shouldn't all the data be JUST on my server? They shouldn't have access to it right?

However, wallhacks for certain blocks or entities, such as diamond, are entirely possible. The map save resides on the server as well, but players download the needed chunks from it, and thus the client necessarily knows what blocks these chunks consists of. It has to, in order to render the world.

Welcome to the world of the server owner - It takes a copy of BUKKIT and a huge load of effort and dedication to set up a public server that is open enough for people to want to play on, and secure enough to discourage griefers and cheaters. I've been running my own server for a couple of months and it has been a HUGE effort. Just when you think you have got it all set up ok, Mojang updates the clients and all of a sudden, no-one can play on it any more until you update it.

Unfortunately it takes a while for the bukkit developers to re-code the bukkit server and even longer for the plugin authors to update their code. Also, when the terrain generation algorithms change, this can result in subsequent chunks not matching up and you end up with huge clipped areas that look awful.

The players that are digging directly down to diamond are using an x-ray mod or texture pack on their local client that makes dirt and stone transparent. There are some block obfuscator plugins that prevent this by changing the block data, but I have never trusted them - they always have comments to say they are buggy, or cause other issues. The best solution to this problem is to build a (essentails) jail for these players and throw them in it permanently, or ban them from your server. You can then use WorldEdit to regenerate the chunks they have mined with the /regen command.

I have an SMP world and I have been paying to extend the amount of people on the server, however it can get to the point where it is unplayable because it will kick everyone out of the server and nobody can join for a while. Is there any way that I can grab my server and move it elsewhere (WITH KEEPING ALL THE BUILDS, PROGRESS, and STUFF) ? I have been using this and usually there isn't any problems but suddenly there has been so much problems occurring that it is making it impossible to play. I would like to move it to a minecraft realm, is that possible?

Of-course this can be done, but will require some efforts. Minehut allows you to download worlds stored on your server. If you are talking about progress such as advancements, xp, inventory, etc. this data is stored in the main world folder. (i.e. Level Name). The Level Name can be found under the Panel, Settings tab. If it's "world" by default, then you're good to go.

Thankfully, there are hundreds of Minecraft servers out there just waiting to be explored. Whether you're looking for team-based PvP, pure survival, Skyblock, or anything in between, we've got a server for you. Below, we'll take a look at some of the best Minecraft servers you can play on right now.

Updated September 21, 2023 by Jacob Whaling: We've refreshed this list with even more multiplayer servers to try, including the amazing WesterosCraft, which strives to recreate the entire world of the Game of Thrones series in Minecraft.

Mineplex is one of the larger Minecraft servers available, with tons of different and unique game modes like Super Smash mobs, a PvP mode based on the Smash Bros series, or Cake Wars, in which you work with a team to protect your cake from being eaten.

As an official Minecraft partner, Mineplex receives constant development, adding new features and modes frequently. Plus, this server works flawlessly on Bedrock clients, perfect for players playing on the console version.

Minescape is one of the best Minecraft worlds ever built. It absolutely nails the fantasy setting and has all the features that made Runescape such a great game. The server features the same locations, mobs, and skills as the original game. If you want to relive Runescape, you can do it through Minescape in Minecraft.

The game is set up as a survival server with MMO elements, but the lack of any real rules leads to plenty of player-killing, lies, and deceit. If you want the darkest and most gritty Minecraft experience possible, Minewind will be one of your favorite servers.

Hypixel is the most popular Minecraft server, and for good reason. There are tons of different game modes available, like the ever-popular Skyblock and Bedwars, as well as unique modes like Murder Mystery or Cops and Crims.

With so many players always online, and so many different game modes to play, as well as a flourishing economy and progression systems, Hypixel may be the only server you ever need. If you haven't taken a look at Hypixel yet, go check it out.

Wynncraft is an MMO-style server that takes you to the vast world of Wynn. Choosing between five different classes, you can take on quests, level up, explore dungeons, and more, all in Minecraft. Wynncraft is completely different from other MMO-style servers in Minecraft due to its detailed map and unique questing system.

DiamondFire is a unique server that allows its users to play and create their own custom mini-games. With complete creative freedom, you can create any number of unique mini-games that other players can join in on.

PvP Legacy is one of the most prominent 1.16-based PvP servers. Version 1.16 has some of the most intricate combat of Minecraft's updates, emphasizing timing your hits accurately to deal the most damage. Because of this, PvP Legacy offers a server for training and practicing your technique against other players.

By creating custom kits, you can craft unique PvP loadouts, then take them into duels and tournaments against other players. As one of the largest PvP-dedicated servers, you'll never have to worry about waiting to find a match; there are always tons of players online.

Complex Gaming offers four different types of servers. One is the vanilla Minecraft experience, with classic modes like Skyblock, survival, and factions, while the other three are modded servers. These include popular modpacks like Pixelmon, Feed the Beast, and Tekkit.

Besides the vanilla server, you'll need the necessary modpacks to play on these servers. However, once you have everything set up, you'll have a variety of multiplayer content to choose from, like catching Pokemon in Pixelmon or building complex machines in Tekkit. If you're looking for a diverse list of content to play, Complex Gaming has it all.

Blockdrop is a multi-gamemode server with a thriving community. Between Survival, Bedwars, Skyblock, Factions, and more, there are a variety of modes to try out with your new friends. If you're looking to meet new players and join up together, head over to the official Blockdrop Discord server that's always active.

Blockdrop is a cracked Minecraft server, which means you can join this server even if you don't technically own Minecraft, or if you're using a non-Mjoang supported installation like TLauncher. While this opens up the server to potential security issues, it also means more players can join. As always, be sure to keep these risks in mind when joining a new server. 0852c4b9a8
