Ok so hear me out, I love windows 10 I really do but I'm a huge nostalgia sucker and I want to make a PC running windows vista to teleport me back to those fun old days when I used to play games like Prince Of Persia: The Warrior Within and Warcraft 3, I know these games are available on windows 10 as well but I want to use my discs and I just want to have a readily available nostalgia machine to play them on instead.

I don't think trying other driver versions would be an option; as far as I know, the modified 372.70 drivers are the only ones that support both Vista and the GTX 1000 series GPUs, unless there's a way to make older drivers support the newer graphics cards. Newer drivers don't work, most likely due to missing Win7+ dependencies not found in Vista that the drivers rely on to work correctly. I don't remember what version exactly I tried (this was about a year ago), but I do know that it was post 370.xx series. I received a Code 39 error in Device Manager upon installing the drivers, and the drivers would not function properly.

I know this solution is pretty obvious, but you never know... But do you have Service Pack 2 (KB948465), Platform Update (KB971512), and Platform Update Supplement (KB2117917) installed? Platform Update and Platform Update Supplement for Windows Vista adds support for the DirectX 11 API, as well as a few additional APIs from Windows 7 to improve compatibility with newer software and drivers. Also, I've found that the update slightly improves overall system performance and stability.

You may also try installing the Driver Framework version 1.11 update for Windows Vista which improves support for newer drivers, see here: -us/help/2685813/user-mode-driver-framework-version-1-11-update-for-windows-vista--wind

Thank you for your reply. I didn't have those updates installed (except SP2), but even after installing them and rebooting the computer, the graphics card performed ridiculously bad on a game from 2005.

i have a 1060gtx running on vista, most of the games cant utilise the graphics cards full potential(except rocket league and a few other), what im curious about is how does the modified 970 drivers work for you? and does it use the gfx to its full potential?

Hi, i get Zotac gt 1030 a couple months ago, after driver installation and reboot the PC ,the screen stays on black (mouse cursors shows, startup sound appears, but... windows vista's logo dont show) ,i tried multiple versions without success, i hope you got better results

Hello guys. I have a very simple question: does the AMD Redon HD 8490 graphics card support Windows Vista or not, and if this graphics card supports Windows Vista, please send a link to download it. Thank you.

Operating System - Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit

Welcome, my friend. Once, I thank you for your response. Currently my friend, I just downloaded the definition from official website now, but when I started extracting the installer files, I started the installation, and during the installation an error occurred and then I went to the device manager from the control panel and then I displayed all the definitions via the file (.INI) was shown all the definitions for AMD Radeon HD, except for mine which is AMD Radeon HD 8490, then I used another tool called SDI Lite and I searched for the special definition and then my definition appeared and I downloaded it and the size of the definition was 128 MB, but is This definition is complete or I do not know. Well then I went to the device manager and found that the definition of the graphics card has an AMD Radeon HD 8490 instead of VGA, as well as when I tried to change the Windows theme when I did not even find Windows Aero

Just as a comparison on my machine I ran the SW benchmark with and without hyperthreading to see the difference. The bottleneck on my system is the memechanical drive. Im running a core i7 x980 overclocked to 4.15ghz. 12gb ram and a quadro 5000 graphics card.

While new systems shipping with Windows Vista will include video cards with WDDM drivers, and new drivers for a number of popular video cards are included in the box, Windows Vista continues to support the ability to use older XPDM drivers for upgrades and corporate editions. On systems using the old driver model, Direct3D 9 and older interfaces must be used, and the operation of the graphics system is very similar to that of Windows XP (Figure 1). WDDM is required for applications to use Direct3D 9Ex, Direct3D 10, and later versions.

Many consumer desktop display adapters can support two monitors, but workstation display adapters, with graphics processing units (GPUs) that are specifically designed for dual displays, provide better resolution and application management. It is hard to justify the cost of high-end cards for anything other than complex graphic modeling or data-set work, but the limitations of low-end workstation cards become quickly apparent. That will only increase as Windows Vista continues to replace XP and applications become more graphically demanding.
