The first BlackBerry device, the 850, was introduced in 1999 as a two-way pager in Munich, Germany.[10] BlackBerry was a solution devised by RIM for delivering e-mail over several different wireless networks.[11] The name BlackBerry was coined by the marketing company Lexicon Branding. The name was chosen out of about 40 potential names, because of the resemblance of the keyboard's buttons to that of the drupelets that compose the blackberry fruit, and the instant pronunciation which reflected the speed of this push email system.[12]

Once the blackberry syrup has cooled down, you can make the mascarpone filling. Place some heavy cream into the chilled bowl of a mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, and whip until stiff peaks form. Transfer the whipped cream to another bowl and return the bowl to the mixer. Replace the whisk attachment with the paddle attachment, and beat some mascarpone cheese with some sugar, 3/4 cup of the blackberry syrup and a splash of vanilla.

The next layer of business is the blackberry mascarpone filling! Spread half of it evenly over the ladyfingers, then place another layer of syrup-soaked ladyfingers on top. Finally, spread HALF of the remaining filling evenly on top. The second half of the remaining filling goes into a piping bag fitted with a large round tip (or a ziplock bag with the corner cut off), which will then be piped into even rows along the top. This step is totally optional, but it definitely adds an elegant look to your tiramisu.

In a cocktail shaker, start by muddling the blackberries, rosemary and simple syrup. Add Empress 1908 Indigo Gin and freshly squeezed lime juice. Add ice and shake well to chill. Double strain into a Nick & Nora glass and garnish with a blackberry on a cocktail pick. Enjoy!

Absolutely gorgeous, Lindsay! I adore homemade applesauce and your blackberry version is a must-make-asap recipe. I have plans for this beautiful applesauce! Lovely styling and photography as always. Thanks ever so much for sharing, girl. Pinning!

Other things - you can freeze blackberries in ice cubes for a nice accessory to the drink. The sugar syrup can be transferred to a metal mixing bowl set in a bowl of ice to cool it down quickly. And for a wonderful frozen cocktail, puree ice and a jigger of gin with the blackberry-lime mixture in a blender.

I was planning on making a fruit galette with nectarines when I ran across this blackberry cheesecake recipe. It sounds so yummy. Can I use nectarines instead of blackberries? And I have whipped cream cheese in the fridge- can I use that?

Blackberry blends hard apple cider with a post-ferment addition of blackberry juice to impart rich blackberry notes on the nose paired with a distinctively tart and off-dry finish. So this is apparently the THIRD blackberry recipe popping up in my Feedly feed... And oh my, what a beauty! Can't wait to taste test it, even though raspberries and strawberries have to dress themselves up as blackberries for me right now.. until the latter ones are in season again soon! Thanks for sharing! ?

Found this yesterday and made it today with 1/3 c maple syrup instead of sugar - I have no ice cream maker, so the sugar would come out grainy. I can't wait to try it tomorrow night with chocolate jimmies. As a kid, my fav dessert at Friendly's was blackberry ice cream with tons of jimmies on top. Now I've got my non dairy fix, thanks!

Blackberries should be planted in well-drained soils with a pH in the 6.0-6.5 range. Soil testing should be performed four to six months before establishing blackberries to ensure ample time for soil amendments, such as lime or sulfur, to work. Amend each planting hole with a mix of compost and native soil. Blackberries should be planted in full sun for optimal plant health and production. Blackberries should not be planted in part-shade to shaded areas as they will harbor more diseases and never produce good yields. If possible, rows should be oriented north to south so that both sides of the blackberry plant will receive even sunlight, ensuring maximum production and ripening of the fruit.

Fertilize blackberries in early spring when growth starts and again just after harvest. A soil test will provide recommendations for fertilization at the planting site. Apply the fertilizer in a 12-inch circle around the plant during the first year or two of growth. On older plants, broadcast the fertilizer down the row. A tissue analysis may need to be collected during the season to determine if blackberry plants have proper nutrition.

Blackberry diseases can be found on the crown, canes, foliage, or fruit. Crown diseases include crown gall and fusarium wilt. Cane diseases include Anthracnose cane spot, cane blight, cane rust, and orange cane blotch. Foliage diseases include blackberry yellow vein disease, leaf rust, downy mildew, orange rust, powdery mildew, Pseudocercospora leaf spot, rosette (double blossom), and Septoria leaf spot. Botrytis is the most common fruit rot.

Weeds need to be managed in and around blackberries. A weed-free strip 2 to 3 feet wide on either side of the blackberry row can reduce competition for water and nutrients. This weed-free strip can be achieved with a combination of methods. Mulches, flame weeders, and pre and post-emergent herbicides are all great options when maintaining a weed-free strip. 0852c4b9a8
