im new on here and new to online recording software. i downloaded audacity to my PC running Windows vista but the program wont open. very frustrating.
I seen a post on here saying you need to download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015.
i went on there but it has this and i dont know which i should download.

It Very much has nothing to do with the SHA-2 Code Signing Requirement. Windows Server 2008 (and Windows Vista because both share the Same Windows NT Version) got KB4474419 ( =kb4474419 -us/topic/sha-2-code-signing-support-update-for-windows-server-2008-...) and yes. it can be installed in Windows Vista like any other update from the Microsoft Update Catalog... so what makes you think that it does have anything to do with the SHA-2 Code Signing Requirement. yes i just realized i am 2 years late.
heres a later edit showing that setup will start on a fresh unmodified copy of Windows 7. however it will fail. its not checking for KB4474419 only Windows 7 with Service Pack 1.

Hi, I have itunes downloaded using windows vista and all my 4S backups are on the computer, now I have bought a 5S and can not access the updates because it says 5S is not compatible with the itunes version on Vista and it will only work with Windows 7 or higher which I do not have. What can I do to sync all my data that I have stored on my computer to update my new 5S. There must be a solution.
@lcrusoe I found a workaround for this. My laptop is running windows Vista and I had the same issue. What you need to do is right click on the setup.exe and hit properties. Then, you need to go to the compatibility tab. Then, "enable compatibility mode", and select "windows XP SP2", and also "run as administrator". Then, it should be able to install as normal. It should absolutely be possible to make the recent versions of the IDE work on Vista, though vista can demonstrate some incredibly perverse behavior due to bugs (or what appear to be bugs) in vista's implementation of UAC (I've definitely seen cant-happen situations happen with UAC file and registry virtualization).
To fix the apache monitor you have to go into the apache directory and find the monitor application. In 2.2 it is in the bin folder. Right click on that and go to properties. Click the compatibility tab and choose to run it as windows xp sp2. That should get you monitor working again and get rid of the annoying error message.
I down loaded the patch file from this site and now I can run r14 on vista, but now when I try drawing something I get a error message "unhandled access violation exception at ______" . the blank is a letter and number combination and is different every time. this happens more often when working with circles. when this happens r14 shuts down and looses all work done since last save.
