A standalone sequel titled Student of the Year 2, directed by Punit Malhotra, was released on 10 May 2019, starring Tiger Shroff alongside debutantes Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey. Although speculations were rife about the three leads from the original returning for a special appearance, only Bhatt made the cut in a song opposite Shroff.[7]

Rohan "Ro" Nanda is a handsome, popular guy in the college and the younger son of its trustee, tycoon Ashok Nanda. Ashok wants him to be a businessman like his elder son Ajay and dislikes his passion for music. Shanaya Singhania, a rich and highly popular girl in the college, is his girlfriend. She feels dissatisfied due to his constant flirting with Tanya Israni, another student and her nemesis. Abhimanyu "Abhi" Singh, a new student coming from a middle-class family, who wants to become rich like Ashok, soon becomes the college's heartthrob. Abhi is an orphan whose grandmother is the only person who he truly loves in his life. He and Ro initially do not get along but soon become best friends after a football match. Ro introduces him to Shanaya, reminding him to not get involved with her, but Abhi maintains that he is not interested. Kaizad "Sudo" Sodabottleopenerwala, a student who Ro sometimes mocks or jokes around with, has a lot of admiration for Abhi, and in the process, he too becomes part of Abhi's, Ro's, and Shanaya's circle.

The final round of the competition is a triathlon. Abhi, in the lead, surprisingly slows down during the end, resulting in Ro winning the competition. Ro, however, declines to accept the award citing personal reasons. After Ro steps down, Yogi is heavily berated by Sudo, who talks about how the Student of the Year competition has always been rigged from the start. Sudo says that the competition broke their friendship of two years and was unfair to people like Sudo, who wasn't as popular or attractive as Abhi or Ro. After finishing his speech, he storms out. This causes Yogi to eventually retire. The students soon graduate and lose contact with each other.

The song "Radha" sampled the song "Dafli Wale Dafli Baja" (that originally had music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and lyrics by Anand Bakshi) from the film Sargam (1979), which also starred Kapoor in the lead.

Will Smith's takeaway from his dose of Bollywood: "I got a really good sense of what Bollywood is all about... I was whole lot harder than I thought it would be but it was a total bucket list moment. I have been in this business for over 30 years and this moment right here reconnected me back to why I do this!

Note: This song is based on the tales of 'Lord Krishna', a loved and worshipped Hindu God. It is a

chapter taken from the life of Krishna when he was growing up and in his adolescent age. Krishna

loved to go to the river bank where other women would come and do their daily jobs. He was the

loved one among them all. They used to dance and enjoy while Krishna would do mischief. These

women were referred to as 'Gopis'. There was one Gopi in particular whose name was 'Radha' who

used to love Krishna and Krishna also loved her. But despite that, he didn't stop paying attention to

other Gopis and so Radha used to taunt him every now and then and would try and get his attention.

Krishna also loved to eat freshly prepared buttered and he used to steal it from the homes of peopleĀ

where he lived, so he is often christened as 'Maakhan Chor' or 'Butter Thief'. Lord Krishna played

excellent flute and also had a Peacock feather on his crown.

Shanaya was first introduced in the song, "Gulabi Aankhen", which shows her interest for designer stuff. Which, right after the song, shows her dislike for her ex-boyfriend, Rohan Nanda, flirting around with Tanya Israni by spilling red wine on Tanya's blouse. In the song, "Tareef Karoon Kya Uski", she didn't seem to have much feelings for Abhimanyu. However, in Thailand (where Rohan Nanda's brother is getting married), Rohan flirts around with Tanya way too much, she seeks Abhimanyu's help in winning back Rohan ( "Radha on the Dance Floor"). Abhimanyu and Shanaya pretend to flirt with each other in order to make Rohan jealous, which they emerge successful, bringing Abhimanyu(Abhi) and Shanaya even more closer. On Rohan's older brother's big day, it becomes very evident that Abhi has fallen in love with Shanaya. And the very next day, Shanaya learns of his feelings for her from Shruti. But since Rohan and she managed to reconcile, she doesn't do much about it. As the competition approaches, priorities change and friendships take a backseat. But things take turn for the worst when Abhi's grandmother falls ill. Shanaya supports Abhi and attempts to be there for him, but Abhi shuts her out repeatedly as an attempt to disguise his feelings for her. Later on, Abhi's grandmother passes away. And when Shanaya comes to console the grieving Abhi, they both fail to conceal their feelings for each other and give in. They share a passionate kiss. But seconds later, only to find out that Rohan has witnessed everything.

The Stop the Hate contest is now in its sixteenth year and has reached an estimated 50,000+ students across twelve Northeast Ohio counties. Students who take the museum tour in-person or online use object-based learning to explore what it means to be a bystander, upstander, or perpetrator. Students examine global events like the Holocaust and national events like the Civil Rights Movement. Reflecting on this history, students also reflect on bias and discrimination they have experienced or witnessed in their own lives and consider what role they play as individuals in being the change they want to see in their community. In 2024, the total amount of scholarships, prizes, and anti-bias education grants awarded through the contest to Northeast Ohio students, teachers, and schools will be $1.6 million.
