If the Zac Brown Band, that rag-tag, beanie-wearing, bearded jam-band-with-a-southern-accent was in a cage for their first two impressive albums, maybe they should embrace captivity. On their third album, unfortunately and ironically entitled Uncaged, the band manages to demonstrate their trademark musicianship, sense of humor, stylistic flexibility and commitment to good-time, feel-good jams, while sounding more packaged, processed and vacuous than ever.

Uncaged debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, selling 234,000 copies in its first week of release, giving them their second number one album and best sales week yet.[21] In its second week, it sold 78,000 copies, falling to number 2.[22] In its third week of release, it sold an additional 48,000 copies, returning to number one on the chart.[23] The album was specially priced for $3.99 at the Amazon MP3 store for its first week of release, which some sources suggest may have contributed around 25,000 to 30,000 of its debut number.[21] In Canada, the album debuted at number one on the Canadian Albums Chart, selling 8,100 copies, the band's first number one in Canada.[24] Uncaged was certified Platinum by the RIAA on November 20, 2013,[25] and as of September 2015, it has sold 1,200,000 copies in the United States.[26]

Brown has firmly established himself as an engaging singer and his band as a fount of strong musicianship that continues traditions established by such predecessors as the Grateful Dead and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Zac elaborated backstage after the win, saying of his team, "Everything we do runs on love." He further expressed his band's love for their experiences at the Grammys every year. "It means more to me than I can speak or say ... This whole weekend has been a dream for me. It feels like I've been hanging out with my entire CD collection."

So far, ZBB's chart-topping Uncaged has spawned the hits "Goodbye in Her Eyes" and "The Wind." Zac co-wrote 10 of the album's 11 tracks, putting a lot of focus on how each would sound during the band's live show, rather than worrying about what fits in on country radio. "We're not just going to take some songs from a focus group in Nashville where people are sitting around in a circle having appointments trying to write catchy songs so they can sell them to a band like us," Zac told The Boot. "You can tell all our songs come from us and from our artists, the people we write with and travel with. You can hear us in them and you can hear the chemistry in our band because we live together as a band. I don't think a lot of bands and artists work as hard as we do on the creation, on the writing, the arrangements and the recording in our format."

Zac Brown Band's latest project triumphed over albums by Miranda Lambert, Hunter Hayes, Jamey Johnson and the Time Jumpers for the Best Country Album Grammy. This is the Georgia-based band's third career Grammy win, following a 2010 win for Best New Artist and 2011 win for "As She's Walking Away."

Following the release of their highly successful sophomore album, You Get What You Give, Zac Brown Band knew that they had to elevate their already dynamic sound with Uncaged. With smash hits such as Chicken Fried, Toes and the Jimmy Buffett collaboration, Knee Deep, under their belt, it was clear that the band wanted to experiment with different sounds and styles while still keeping their country, jam band identity.

Ultimately, Uncaged was not quite as successfull as its predecessor commercially. However, it was still wildly successful for the band. It debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200, spending multiple weeks there. It would later be certified platinum by the RIAA on Nov. 20, 2013, additionally.

If you're a fan of the Zac Brown Band, I hate to break it to you--but you're far from alone. Despite the band's ability to convey an unpretentious family feel with its shows and fanbase, there's actually quite a massive crowd of you lovers out there.

Pretty fascinating numbers to bump around. However, all of this is probably so much a bunch of chicken grease to most fans of the band, who just love ZBB and the new album for its brilliant mix of genres--including, of course, some of the countriest country currently available.

Also, who couldn't love a band who--despite being bona fide superstars at this point--done got themselves animated by Beavis And Butthead creator Mike Judge, for latest video "The Wind"?...Check it out for yourselves, you can watch HERE.

"We always pour our heart and soul into every album but 'Uncaged' really pushed the boundaries of musicianship for us and as a band we felt it captured the powerful chemistry that's developed by living, traveling and working as a band. It's an honor to be recognized."
