If the camera was invented in the 1800s then that means there is human pictures of jasper and esme around somewhere. So do they just go with the "I'm related to him/her " story. And also there is probably a video somewhere of alice in the insane asylum.
Twilight marked a turning point for me. These pictures wound up influencing every picture I made after. Reaching the 25th anniversary has been a time of reflection, particularly looking through old snapshots and ephemera in support of the Avant Arte collaboration.

I wanted to choose images for this print collaboration that each felt defining to me. The first time I used a prop car and created a street scene, for example. Each of these three pictures feature themes and motifs and iconography that I still use as central elements in my pictures.
I look back on that time and realize just how amazing it was that we accomplished what we did. I assembled a production team of sorts, some whom were experienced in film, but many others who didn\u2019t have any such experience or background at all, but were simply willing to help. I rented cinematic lights from a local theatrical supply, we built sets, and I attempted to create the pictures I had in my head. Everything was makeshift. We were putting lights up in landscaping lifts, often tying into residential electricity, cobbling things together. It was an adventure. There was a freedom in not knowing what I was doing. I was trying to invent a new way of making pictures, and I found the sense of infinite possibility slightly intoxicating.
Whenever I photograph at a popular landscape photography location, I always see a mass exodus of photographers as soon as the sun goes down. For many years, I was part of this exodus, as I believed the best light was gone as soon as the sun set. This was before I discovered the magic of the twilight hour to capture stunning landscape photos. Now, I see the sunset not as the end of my photo shoot, but the beginning.
Civil twilight is a good time to capture landscape photos with the moon and some of the brightest stars and planets. The moon will be visible throughout this time, while some of the stars and planets will be visible towards the end of civil twilight in the evening (or the beginning of it in the morning).
Although civil twilight is a great time to capture landscape photos, the magic of twilight does not end here. After civil twilight in the evening (and before it in the morning) is a period known as nautical twilight. Nautical twilight and astronomical twilight also offer some incredible opportunities for landscape photography. This stage of twilight occurs from the time the sun is 6 to 12 degrees below the horizon. You can get unique photos that convey the brief moment in time between the dark of night and the light of day.
After nautical twilight in the evening (and before it in the morning) is a period known as astronomical twilight. This stage of twilight occurs from the time the sun is 12 to 18 degrees below the horizon. During astronomical twilight, the sky will appear almost completely dark to the human eye, but there will still be some light from the sun refracted through the atmosphere that can be picked up by a camera. At the beginning of astronomical twilight in the evening, the sky will still have a bluish color to it. If there is no moon out, the sky will gradually fade to purple and then to black at the end of twilight. There may also be some reds or yellows in the direction the sun set (or is about to rise).
Landscape photography without a moon or a thin crescent moon during astronomical twilight can easily include many star and a milky way. If there is a brighter moon out, the light from it will likely overpower any light refracted through the atmosphere from the sun, and your shots will look like shots taken under a moon in the dark of night (the sky will appear blue, the foreground will be lit up, and some stars will be obscured).
However, you may need to adjust your technique if you want to complete your full shot list during the twilight period, especially if you have a lot of photos to take, and want to capture both interior and exterior twilight images.
One of the biggest challenges of real estate photography at twilight is color balance. Many homes have a variety of light sources, each giving out different hues. This can make it pretty tricky to correct white balance in the edit suite.
Twilight photos show the buyer another side of the property. Rather than just seeing the property when the day is bright and sunny, they get to experience it at a different time of day. The homes that work best for twilight shots are those that have a good amount of outdoor lighting or water nearby. Being near a pool, lake, or beach could make for a stunning twilight photo.
When taking these pictures it is best to turn on all interior and exterior lights. Some exterior lights may be too bright, in this case, you can unscrew each bulb or turn it off. Using a tripod is key to eliminate camera vibrations. This is because the exposure time will be several seconds longer than normal. After taking the photo, it is often edited in post-processing. Because of time limitations, a photographer can only do one twilight shoot per day. After about 30 minutes after the sun goes down, it becomes too dark to shoot an adequate picture of the property.
To successfully sell in a competitive market, you need to make the thumbnail or cover photo of your listing immediately appealing for a strong, instant first impression. Amid images for other listings that have nothing but plain, daylight photography, the golden glow of your twilight cover photo is likely to draw the eye of potential buyers. Twilight images will have people clicking on your listing rather than moving on to the next one.
Beautiful twilight images of homes can make artificial lighting, recessed, outdoor lighting, and colors pop in unique ways. Your home can communicate a higher-end feel and make potential buyers judge it as having greater value.

What is virtual twilight?
Sometimes referred to as a day-to-dusk, or twilight conversion, virtual twilight is when a photographer or photo editing specialist uses exterior photos taken during daylight hours and digitally alters them to appear as if they were taken at twilight. It allows an ordinary photograph to be transformed into a dramatic representation of a house at dusk.
Why might you opt for virtual twilight instead of the real thing? Well, the tight window of opportunity required for twilight photography might not fit into your schedule with every client. When you do not have the time for a twilight shoot, or when you have restricted access to a property, virtual twilight may be the answer, since you can use existing exterior digital images.
