I agree, the lack of an option to disable the output window except in case of true errors is hilarious. Dragging it to the incredibly overloaded properties tab is a sort of workaround, but it makes the rather unordered and confusingly composed properties tab even more confusing.

2) The Output window can now be hidden (somewhat). Drag it to the Properties tab, and move it to be the tab under the Information tab.
