This may sound amusing, but studies show that your ringtone explains a lot about your personality. Yes, its true, just like your favorite color, book, movie or food, your choice of ringtones too reflect your character and personality. A chart compiled by Buzzle lists different ringtone categories and the personality associated with each ringtone.

Download ringtones that project a cool personality and image. Keep in mind that you can be judged by the ringtone you set. Choose a ringtone that is new and popular and make sure that it is not boring, old-fashioned or irritating.

When I plug my old phone into my computer and go to This PC\KYOCERA\Internal storage\media\audio\ringtones like I have been told to go to for the default ringtones, the only ones that show up are a couple of custom ringtones I had put on previously. I want to extract the default ringtones like AT&T Play On and notification sounds like Syrma, so that I can put them on my new phone.

I tried changing the ringtone on my dad's phone in the DIGITS app. I want him to have separate ringtones for his personal and business lines. I tried changing the ringtones for both lines, but the phone still rang with the ringtone set in the phone's settings app.

I assumed that all aspects of the traditional office phone have improved over the years, including ringtones, but I was sadly mistaken. The particular phones I installed are Grandstream and the default ringtones are horrible!

All of the various phones have various ways of uploading/downloading the ringtones, so I won't attempt to give instructions here, but if anyone has any tips and info about what worked for them, please post comments.

This is the MP4/AAC format that (I think) pretty much only works on the iPhone. Use MakeiPhoneRingtone to put this into the iTunes ringtones folder and transfer it to your iPhone.

On April 3, Spektral Quartet offered live renditions of the mini masterpieces at Fulton Recital Hall, as well as iPad listening stations that allowed guests to explore the full catalogue of ringtones.

Now if you want all SmartThings notifications to play this file, select it as the application notification. I just wanted the SMS messages from SmartThings that are sent from alarm conditions to trigger the file. To do this I added a contact and included the phone number from the SMS messages sent by SmartThings as the mobile number. Then you can add a field to the contact to specify a custom message notification sound and select the music file you added to the Notifications folder. Give the contact a name and save it. SMS messages from SmartThings will appear with the contact name and trigger the custom notification. Make sure the file plays long enough to wake you up, though, since it will only play through once. This eliminates the need to devote memory to IF an/or Tasker. Your notifications volume will need to be set fairly loud, so other short notifications might hinder your sleep.

Wallpapers for every MU sport are now available and Ring Out Ahoya is available as a ringtone. This summer, a larger variety of ringtones will be available, including options highlighting the 2009-10 men's basketball season.

Jamba (formerly Jamba!) is a German company that created and marketed ringtones for mobile phones. It operated under the name Jamster in China, Armenia, Georgia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Oman, France, Kuwait, Turkey, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Austria, Brazil, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, Sweden, Iraq, Poland and Malaysia.

Jamba is perhaps best known for the ringtone characters Sweety the Chick, Crazy Frog, Anna Blue, Psycho Teddy, Moley the Mole and Schnuffel. The company also sold insurance for mobile phones and home electronics and ran online gaming and online dating services.[citation needed]

VeriSign was a successful internet security company that had a series of product lines that connected mobile network companies' text message networks together securely, processing about 3 billion per day in 2004. VeriSign CEO Stratton Sclavos recognised that with VoIP products developing, the revenues could decrease, and so he hired Vernon Irvin as Executive Vice President and General Manager of VeriSign's Communications Services division to solve the problem. Irvin saw good but technical and expensive products, but saw the volumes of exchange over the system as the solution.[2]

Later developments included a collaboration with L'Oral encouraging users to send in photos to find 'America's next supermodel' and promoting VeriSign Back-Up as a mechanism to re-download music tracks a customer had previously bought to a different mobile phone, for example if the previous phone was stolen, broken or lost.

On 12 September 2006 News Corporation announced it would pay approximately $188 million for 51% shares in Jamba! and would combine it with Fox Mobile Entertainment assets,[4] such as Mobizzo, with Lucy Hood, formerly President of Fox Mobile Entertainment, becoming CEO of the joint venture.[5] On 23 October 2006 it was announced that Vernon Irvin would join XM Satellite Radio as Chief Marketing Officer.[6] In late December 2010, Jesta Group acquired Fox Mobile Group from News Corp. Jesta Group renamed the mobile services company to Jesta Digital.[7]

This is not completely correct.

It is possible to do. I currently have two directly assigned numbers with separate ring tones configured. When I assigned the numbers they were in the app>settings>general>ringtones

I set them so I could determine which number was being called.

They have since vanished..... so perhaps it's an undocumented feature.

Secondly, and much weirder is the fact that when anyone calls me (I've tested this by ringing from a different landline & my mobile) is that the ringtone you get is not the traditional UK ring sound "ring ring ring ring ring ring" but more an American ringtone with one long sound, followed by a 4 second pause & then the long sound etc...

The ring / engaged tones for a UK to UK call are normally generated by the callers end of the telephone system ( in my case Cisco VOIP kit configured to sound like BT's call progress tones ).

Does that American ringtone occur on just one phone, or does it persist from mobiles as well as other land lines ?

1 Opened up my contact name on the phone 2. pressed the exclamation mark button 3 pressed edit 4 Pressed View more 5 Scrolled to bottom of the page to ringtones ( when i do this The Healer is showing) 6 Pressed Save 7 Tried ringing my number from my landline and the Galaxy Bells ringtone rings !!!!

Objective:  To determine the effect of mobile phone ringtones on visual recognition during driving, laboratory and real-scene eye movement experiments were conducted with simulated and real driving tasks, respectively. Competition for visual attention during driving increases with the integration of sounds, which is related to driving safety.

Method:  We manipulated the physical (long exposure duration vs. short exposure duration) and psychological (self-related vs. non-self-related) properties of mobile phone ringtones presented to drivers. Estimates were based on linear mixed models (LMMs) and generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs).

Results:  Self-related ringtones had a greater influence on driving attention than non-self-related ones, and the interaction between exposure duration and self-relatedness was significant. Furthermore, the impact of the mobile phone ringtone occurred in real time after the ringtone stopped.

Conclusion:  These results highlight the importance of considering the impact of ringtones on driving performance and demonstrate that ringtone properties (exposure duration and self-relatedness) can affect cognitive processes.

4th June 2007 - UK consumers are spending more on downloading games to their mobile phones than on ringtones, music or video, according to research released today by GfK M, the industry's leading mobile content tracking company.

In the year to March 2007, consumers spent 83mn on mobile games, compared to 76mn on ringtones and just 23mn on music. GfK M's figures reveal that the mobile gaming market is worth nearly four times the current market value of full music tracks, and eight times the current video download market.

Mobile Network Operators are dominating the market, with nearly 90% of games in the last year sold through this channel. Furthermore, the top 10 games account for a third of the total revenue of the mobile gaming market and just three games published in the last year accounted for 60% of total sales of games, according to GfK M's research. 17dc91bb1f
