I've been in love with this song for about 2 years now, but it's never made complete sense to me until now. I just figured out what it's about for me. You go into a relationship or whatever knowing it's going to be short term: we have this much time together and then for whatever reason, we have to go our separate ways. So it's not going to be serious, just about enjoying time together. But even though you know from the first moment it isn't going to last, you let yourself fall into it. And you feel so much more than you ever intended. And you dream, and imagine, even though you know it has to end, that you'll be together forever. That it'll never end. And then your time runs out, just as you always knew it would. And you're left feeling so much, and it's over, and there's absolutely nothing you can do. Nothing at all.

I couldn't put this any better myself, icesk8ngurl...I too recently figured out what exactly this song is about, but I'd much rather have been able to go on without fully understanding it. Sometimes life just gets in the way and there's nothing you can do about it, even if you'd give up everything to keep your relationship going. No matter what you tell yourself, you can't talk yourself in or out of love, but sometimes life forces you to make a decision. But it's the moments you shared, even if it wasn't for as long as you wanted, that make it all worth it. Nothing can take away your memories.

Anyway, this song is incredible. Perfectly captures the emotion I and many others have felt.

When he says a drop in the ocean, a change in the weather, he's talking about things that are completely irrelevant and unimportant. Things that don't matter in the whole scheme of things. Like him loving her is irrelevant, because she'll never love him back: "It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert." But to him, it doesn't matter because , she is his heaven, his everything.

I think when he says he was a boy who loved a woman like a little girl just means how he was in over his head, like the drop in the ocean thinking it was something more then just a drop. Or a slight change in the weather would change people's daily routines.

"A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather"represent the littlest things that he wishes would somehow change her mind about him. "I was praying that you and me might end up together", is what he is praying for the whole song. Ron Pope compares "wishing for rain and I stand in the desert" to wishing he could be with her. The desert is like his life without her, and she is water. He wants her and needs her so desperately in his life, the same way as somebody in the desert would need water. There is no water in the desert, as the girl is not in his life. "But I'm holding you closer than most" contradicts what he has said prior to this. I think this means that she is physically there, but they are not together. "cause you are my heaven" means that she is the best thing in his life, that she his heaven on earth.

"A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather" he is saying that he wants a change in life and he thinks it would be as natural as the weather changing "I was praying that you and me might end up together" he wants them to be together and he's praying for it "It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert" it's pointless it's almost impossible for it to happen "But I'm holding you closer than most 'Cause you are my heaven" he really just loves spending the time with her and he says that she is his heaven "I don't want to waste the weekend if you don't love me just pretend" he doesn't want to waste the little time he has with her and he knows she doesn't or love him that way but he wishes she acted that way "Then it's time to go" he says that she should go because she doesn't want or can't be with him "And as my train rolls down the east coast" he has to go to the east coast "I wonder how you keep warm"she has nobody to keep her warm "It's too late to cry to broken to move on" there's no use crying and everything in their relationship is broken and they can't move on normally (such as he might've said he loved her and she didn't feel the same way) you might not agree but I think this is hat it means 'cause i feel this way about a boy (he likes another girl)

In this song, he is talking about being in the "friend zone". I have always listened to this song ever since I heard it used in The Vampire Diaries. Im sure, most of us got this song from there too, since Ron Pope is not a mainstream artist. "A drop in the ocean. A change in the weather. I was praying that you and me might end up together". Means he is still friends with her, but the whole time he has always wanted more. She may have rejected him in the past, but she wish to remain friends, and he accepts it, instead of walking away from the friendship. His emotions is further exemplified in the next two lines. "It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert. But I'm holding you closer than most 'cause you are my heaven? He needs her badly in his life. More than just a friend, and he is having a hard time moving on and meeting new people, because she is still his "heaven". This next line shows she has no romantic feelings from him. "I don't wanna waste the weekend. If you don't love me pretend". This song becomes sad in this next verse. It seems she is being selfish by holding on to him, instead of setting him free. "Don't take what you don't need from me".

Oow. this song is like one of the most beautiful song ever!I think it's about unanswered love. Or am I totally lost? I dunno, I guess the song means different things to different people. To me, it's about being unhappily in love.

this song is definitely about a changed relationship and unrequited love."a change in the weather" implies that maybe there was once something, but now the other has moved on, since the speaker still prays that they'll end up together.i think "i hold you closer than most" means that even though most people would've given up, or don't appreciate this person, he sees so much in her and feels like she is something ethereal.

okay, that was kind of a lot, but that's what i got from it. i absolutely LOVE this song- one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard and i was lucky enough to see the most beautiful dance to this the first time i heard it that had the most amazing choreography by natasha lewis that pretty much brought me to tears. it was so beautiful.

I think the feelings expressed in the song are a sort of disappointment and lack of belief regarding the inevitable end of a romance. 'A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather' I think the drop represents a random point in time or a random occurrence and the change in the weather represents the change of the dynamic of the relationship. 'Praying that you and me might end up together', shows that there was a plan for a long term commitment (marriage or something of the sort). 'Wishing for rain as I stand in the desert' this is what gives away the deterioration of the love, as the desert is dry and dull while the rain isn't perfect but represents movement. In my eyes that gives away that the passion in the relationship is ending, like its getting boring or there is nothing more to learn about each other... something like that. There is also a hint of a long distance relationship as it seems that the lyrical 'me' is traveling down for a weekend... i think the reference might suggests that maybe the distance has part of the blame. Otherwise he strengthens the idea that he is devastated and still in love while he feels that the passion is gone but since he is madly in love he still wants to try and asks not to get taken advantage of. But yea i dont wanna bore anyone any longer :P

He has had two songs placed on FOX's So You Think You Can Dance[12] in both Canada and the US. He was featured in the season three premiere of The Vampire Diaries on The CW. "A Drop in the Ocean" was performed on the UK television show Made in Chelsea by the British reality star Caggie Dunlop, and also in the fourth season of 90210. He also guest starred as himself in season 3 episode 17 of Nashville.

In addition to dropping "Provider," Ocean debuted his verse over 2 Chainz's "Rolls Royce Bitch." Shortly after the two new tracks dropped, Ocean debuted a lyric video for "Provider" on his official website.

The musician shared the new snippet on his Instagram story on Thursday, December 7. In the 23-second video, Ocean can be seen dancing in a recording studio as the song plays. The video is playing on a computer that Ocean seems to be watching and reacting to from off-screen.

If we used seawater for all inland fires, we would have to draw it out of the ocean, transport it by truck to a location, dump it into some kind of portable holding pool, and then draw it into our pumps for use on the fire.

The song is also brighter in tone than most of the material from last year's Lonely Diamond. And the band confirm its the first taste of a new direction for a follow-up, Ocean Alley's fourth studio album.

The Anchor song

i wrote anchor song when i moved into my house by the harbour. i was ecstatic ! i had dreamt a dream about diving into the ocean at night and dropping the anchor there soit is about the satisfaction in putting down roots finding a home and belonging i once told my grandmother ( who was an amateur oil painter ) that that song was based on her colours and the compositions in her paintings she simply looked at me and said : "i know"

"I figured I'd interview a few oceanographers, talk to a few beachcombers, read up on ocean currents and Arctic geography and then write an account of the incredible journey of the bath toys lost at sea," he tells Fresh Air's Dave Davies. "And all this I would do, I hoped, without leaving my desk."

"When I first heard the phrase 'garbage patch,' I imagined something dense," he says. "I initially imagined it as a floating junkyard, and you'd have to poke your way through it with a paddle if you're in a kayak. But it's not like that. You can't take a picture of it because that doesn't exist. What does exist is a whole lot of plastic out there, but it's spread out over millions of miles of ocean. And some of it floats on the surface where you can find it. And some of it floats just below the surface. And eventually all of it will photodegrade, so much of it is so small you're not going to be able to see it with the naked eye." 0852c4b9a8
