Happened to me for the first time 2 days ago or so. I restored, and resynced my music, and it worked alright. Then later, i was syncing it again, and i opened the music app while doing so, and the same thing happened. So I removed all my music, and then synced it again without playing about with the music app during the sync and it worked fine.

I have a feeling its also to do with the amount of music. I have about 32gb of music on a 64gb model. It also causes a considerable lag while opening playlists like My Top Rated, which contain a lot of songs.

Alright just to update you. Most recent sync, tried to add about 4 songs to the ipod, and I'm back to square one. Music app not opening again, removed and added all songs twice already. Really getting on my nerves now.

1-Since using panamp have you used your ipod in any docks successfully? (ex: I have a JVC car deck, a Klipsch dock and the Yamaha dock for my home theatre, all will be worthless if I can't resurrect my iPod as a music player)

3-Do you have any smart playlists? Like others with the 64GB model I have many many songs (that's the WHOLE point of the large capacity iPod, isn't it?) and I found that the more smart playlists I had the worse the apple music app behaved back when it was still working.

I use a logic3 dock connected to the amplifier. This gives no problems with panamp so I guess it should remain to work. The smart playlists take some time (really up to minutes - and I have only 40 GB of music on it) to get processed but continue to work. The "dumb" playlists are much faster.

I can listen to my music again at least, there were a few smart playlists I'd cooked up that really had made things convenient though. Really really questionning the point of large capacity Apple devices, I can't have the largest music collection out there...

I added my music to my iPod Touch 4th Gen, using the autofill option and all was fine. Until later, at bed time when i wasnt able to access ANY of the music at all; every song in every album was 'greyed out'; why is this??

The exact same thing happened to my 2 y/o 64 GB 4th gen Touch last night. I've been running iOS 6 since it was released. Never seen anything like this before. Resetting didn't help. When plugged in, iTunes reports the Capacity bar as having 0.01 GB in Audio, with 56 GB free. Syncing takes just a few seconds, and iTunes updates its Capacity bar to show 50 GB of music on the device, which would be correct, except the iPod still thinks it doesn't contain any music. Nothing else appears to have been affected. I just sync playlists, not my whole library. I had to "stop syncing", perform a sync, and then resume syncing music to clear this bad state. The new sync is progressing as expected. This is going to take a while...

i had the same thing happen, i had to restore my ipod touch and add everything back which worked execpt now NONE of my playlist appear on my touch now, the songs do but no playlist. when i look in itunes at my touch under devices it shows all my playlist on my touch but when i look for them on my touch they are not there. i can creat new list and they sync but former list don't show up.

I've been using my iPod touch for at least a year to play music through Spotify and I haven't had any problems until recently. A couple of weeks ago, the storage on my iPod filled up and since then, Spotify has rarely been working.

I can open the app with no problems, browse my library, search for songs I don't have saved (when on Wi-fi); I can pretty much do everything except actually play the music. When I try to play a song, it will show up and the play button will be indicating that it is trying to play, but the song stays at 0:00 and does not begin to play. These are all songs that I've downloaded through Spotify.

I have an iPod Touch Gen 4. Works perfect and still has good battery life so there is no reason for me to upgrade. However I can't seem to access the store to buy music. The iTunes app is still installed but when I try to open it nothing happens. Just wondering if I can still buy music on it because I'd hate to lose that option, it's still a good iPod. Thanks.

Haven't tried that yet, afraid it will delete all of my downloaded apps. Not that big of a deal since these days I only use it for music anyway. But I still have things on there I do not want deleted so I will research a little more and see.

There is one major unresponsive touch screen bug in iOS 12, affecting a significant, growing minority of iPad Pro users across all three model years of iPad Pros, that I am not risking my iPad Pro to currently, that Apple has not addressed/fixed/solved.

Last version of iOS 6 for the 1st gen iPad mini was 6.1.3. Also for every other device capable of running iOS 6. Except for iPhone 5 which got 6.1.4, and iPod touch 4th and iPhone 3GS got 6.1.6. 6.1.5 was iPod touch 4th gen only and got replaced by 6.1.6.

Ok, so I finally figured it out. 95% of the time I play my music at work from my iPod. There is no wifi at work so every time I think about it I am where I do not have a connection. So I remembered to play with it this weekend while at home and here is what I found:

go into Music as if you are going to play a song. In the upper left is a "store" button. if I hit the store button it takes me directly to the music store where I can make purchases directly from my ancient iPod. However the iTunes app no longer works so from here on out I can just go into the music app and make purchases there.

I have done this, using 16.04.You are correct. Though it is possible to connect to your iPod Touch in Ubuntu, you will be unable to sync music via any of the normal libgpod based strategies, listed in other answers.

I jailbroke my iPod touch (ios 6.1.6) and then installed (and paid for) PwnTunes on the iPod. This sets up a new 'My Music' folder on the ipod. When you add music to this folder, PwnTunes will sync it to the ipod Music library, including metadata and cover art (which can be embedded or in the form of a cover.jpg file in each folder). It's a good solution, and works even better across ssh!

iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

I'm not sure what to do when you have Windows Vista, but for Mac users, I just linked my ipod touch to my macbook using my USB cable and was able to authorize my computer to receive downloaded files from the itunes store via icloud. You will be prompted through this process if you both of your devices are signed into icloud. I then had to download the songs on my computer in itunes via icloud.

1. Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synched to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, iTunes will offer to choose a selection of songs to sync to iPod.

3. Manually manage music. You can also choose to transfer music to iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to iPod. You can find this option by accessing the Summary tab of the iPod settings. 0852c4b9a8
