For the mac os High Sierra for my laptop, I have uninstalled my printer Hp Lazerjet P1102w while it was disconnected for the printer. I then downloaded the latest driver for the printer and then tried to reinstall the printer driver and it said installation failed. What do I do?

For example, one can download the drivers from the HP website and use Windows built-in printer install. This creates a weird port, and may get the printer working but won't recognize that it can print double-sided. In other words, it doesn't know how to interrogate the printer.

But, using the most old-fashioned way possible, I have succeeded every time. First, uninstall any previous installations so you start with a clean slate. Connect the wireless printer to the Windows PC with a USB cable. Go to the folder downloaded from the HP website containing the driver files for this printer. Double-click HPSetup.exe. Answer the questions that you want to use the printer on WiFi. If it was installed in the past, you can select the option that asks if the printer (its IP address) is recognized by the WiFi network. That's it. It will be recognized with all its capabilities, and it will work properly with a prompt window that pops up for manual duplexing.

The link I sent was intended to point to the 'driverless' print setup. It is how I set my own printer up - no driver package, no manual adding of ppd files, and no use of foomatic drivers... simply finding the ip address of the printer and using the command (as root):

was the single one line command that works with a lot of printers produced in recent years. That command allows the printer itself to send the one .ppd file to the print queue setup, that is needed. Did you try that approach or were you trying to onlyinstall drivers from one or more of the different packages for your printer? I too have an HP printer (networked on ethernet, but wireless will also work), but this approach has no need for the hplip package at all.

In my case it's a Brother MFC-9970CDW which causes the error. My guess is that it's not a printer issue, but rather Acrobat's poor handling of printer driver return codes (users with oder printer models reported similar errors). Printing from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Preview, ... works fine.

My guess is that Acrobat uses the printer driver extensively to set all the parameters, and poor implementation of those drivers on the macOS makes it difficult to Acrobat. It's only a guess, since Acrobat works well on Windows machines with little or no errors and the same printers.

This printer REQUIRES a downloadable driver plug-in. Use hp-setup to install the printer, and to download and install the plug-in. In general, required driver plugins are required for printing support. Driver plug-ins are released under a proprietary (non-open) license and are not part of the HPLIP tarball release.

Some mobile application which supports mobile printing such as ePrint for android phones and AirPrint for iPhones mobile. If you want to use ePrint, then your printer tray contains pages, and the power supply is on. With HP LaserJet Pro P1102w printer, save energy power, save money and resources.
