When investigating a location, TAPS team members first visit and survey the property with its owners, who describe their experiences at the site. Next, the team sets up electronic equipment in the apparent paranormal hotspots. The TAPS team then spends several hours taking electromagnetic field and temperature readings, recording audio for EVPs, and filming with digital video cameras. Many times, they will even try to verbally coax the ghosts into responding, while recording. Afterwards, the team spends several days analyzing all of the data for evidence of possible paranormal activity.

Since the series began airing, TAPS has recorded thousands of hours of audio and video data. Most investigations, according to TAPS, turn up cold with very little, if any, paranormal activity occurring; however, the ghost hunters claim to have several decent recordings of moving objects, mysterious lights, strange mists, and shadowy figures that manifest before the camera and are highlighted at the end of the show.

During investigations, the TAPS ghost hunters team use various equipment, including digital thermometers, EMF meters, thermographic and night vision cameras, handheld and static digital video cameras, digital audio recorders, and laptop computers.[4]

In addition to their successful television venture, TAPS operates a website where they share their stories, photographs, and ghost hunting videos with an ever-growing membership list. Because of the popularity of the show, TAPS cast members have signed contracts with at least two talent agencies, Escape Artistry and GP Entertainment, to manage their appearances at lectures, conferences and public events.

TAPS also ventured into the venue of radio broadcast with a three-hour weekly show called Beyond Reality, initially hosted by Hawes and Wilson. The radio show covers topics in a vast array of areas such as cryptozoology, spiritualism, ufology, and ghosts. The show includes guest appearances from other TAPS members and special guests such as John Zaffis, Rosemary Ellen Guiley, Chris Fleming, and others who specialize in certain fields. Noted paranormal author Jeff Belanger and Spooky Southcoast radio host and author Tim Weisberg served as fill-in hosts. The show also once simulcasted on Spooky Southcoast, airing from the Mt. Washington Hotel in New Hampshire. New episodes are broadcast every Saturday from 7 pm to 10 pm Eastern Time, though sometimes may skip a week due to the possibility of the hosts being busy with other ventures.

Ghost Hunters helped popularize paranormal television and ghost hunting during its original run.[22][23] For much of its initial airing on Syfy, it was the top-rated paranormal reality show on television. John Blake of CNN opined in 2013 that Ghost Hunters "is to the paranormal field what Sugarhill's 'Rapper's Delight' is to hip-hop...."[23]

During the seven-hour-long, live Halloween show on October 31, 2008, at least two events took place that critics[who?] have scrutinized: One occurs when lead investigator Grant Wilson has his jacket collar pulled down by an unseen force three times; all the while one of his hands remained at his side, which led detractors to claim he was pulling a hidden string. This happens again at one point where Hawes touches Wilson's back and his collar moves down again. Another occurs when a supposed disembodied voice tells the hunters, "You're not supposed to be here." Critics[who?] have claimed the voice sounded like it was piped in from an external audio source. In regard to the scrutiny, Wilson and Hawes defended themselves, stating that everything in the show is real.[28] In a 2013 interview on The Reveal, Wilson stated that their television contracts forbade them from faking evidence on the show.[29]

Techniques with thermal imaging cameras, Geiger counters, electronic voice phenomenon, and EMF detectors are used with little or no explanation as to how the techniques have proven to provide evidence of ghosts or other entities. There are concerns that the devices are misused, such as the noting of Benjamin Radford's article for Skeptical Inquirer: "you may own the world's most sophisticated thermometer, but if you are using it as a barometer, your measurements are worthless. Just as using a calculator doesn't make you a mathematician, using a scientific instrument doesn't make you a scientist."[32]

On October 23, 2008, TV Guide reported that Syfy would launch a spin-off of the show called Ghost Hunters: College Edition, which would feature "co-eds" in the ghost hunter roles.[37] The show was later named Ghost Hunters Academy and began airing November 11, 2009. The series features Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango leading a group of amateur ghost hunters through various investigations.[38]

I've been camping Aberrant specteres for herbs, money, and ghost hunter gear but I still have only found the helmet after quite a bit of camping. Is there anywhere better to get the gear, or any other t70 alternatives? Want ghost hunter so I can do kril more effeciently. I only get 5 or so kills per trip with chaotic staff

I just let everyone have whatever they want, though I did make suggestions. We have an oracle with blessed one, an investigator with ghost hunter and a fighter with marshal. I also tweaked the ghost hunter/inherent spells rule so they now work of the characters highest mental stat instead of just charisma. Personally I think the rules in PF2 are robust enough that min maxing doesn't get problematic the way it could in PF1. Also when it comes to encounters, the action economy plays the bigger part than having a free archetype.

Impromptu ghost hunt at Denver's Cheesman Park! Did you know that Cheesman used to be one of Denver's biggest cemeteries and that there are still several thousand bodies buried there beneath the lush green lawns and flowers?

Took a weekend visit to Nevadaville, Colorado. This ghost town once hosted a booming population of over a thousand hopeful souls, and today there are less than ten residents. Just west of Central City, it's an eerie place to visit.

Things have quieted down a little for the GHG Team as we're all busy with the holidays; the weather is colder and limits outdoor investigations and travel, and this is always our "down time". We'll be taking advantage of this to work on adding more stories to the website, more videos on Youtube, and also to work on some exciting group photos we'll be posting soon! We're also eyeing a few places for indoor ghost hunting investigations right here in our local Denver area.

Many thanks to the Spirits of the Rockies Paranormal Convention and The Historic Plains Hotel for having us as guest speakers! We had a blast sharing our paranormal experiences and findings with fellow ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts.

We're super excited to announce that we'll be standing in for The Ghost Finders this Saturday, August 13th, in Florence, Colorado for their Steampunk Spirit Expedition! We'll be giving a presentation on the basics of ghosthunting, sharing some of our evidence we've captured, and then doing some hands on fun with a spirit box session and K-II readings with the audience.

Yesterday our team got together at the Central branch of the Denver Public Library to do some research on the archives floor. And because the basement is reported to be haunted by the ghost of a former librarian, we absolutely HAD to check it out! None of us was expecting this...we got some insane K-II activity as well as an EVP in which it sounds like someone is shushing us. :O

John Cameron's gravestone in the Central City Masonic Cemetery was sadly barren of flowers...looks like the legendary Lady in Black, a spirit rumoured to be his betrothed who leaves flowers at his grave, has given up the ghost!

G.H.G leader Heidi here, and I want to apologize for the lack of activity! It's pretty much just me running the show now, and I am busily working on assembling a new team while working with a few other local groups on joint projects and investigations. Plus the busiest months for ghosthunting are now in full swing, and I'm planning some exciting investigations to a few new places here in Colorado I have never been to, as well a return visit to my favorite haunted place in Peoria, Illinois - the Bartonville State Hospital! As always, if you are interested in joining the Ghost Hunter Girls, please contact me, and thanks again for your patience as I temporarily run this show alone!

Guess where we're going this weekend? A ghosthunt at the legendary Hotel Colorado is in order, along with a visit to Doc Holliday's grave in Linwood Cemetery. We might just dress up in historic clothing and offer Doc a shot of whiskey to coax him out!

So Kellee and I just got back from a nighttime investigation of the Catholic Cemetery in Central City...wow! I think there was more activity there than at the casinos. There is one grave there that always sends the K2 into a frenzy, and it didn't disappoint this time either. We had a ghost box with us this time too...there is nothing creepier than listening to the hiss of radio static in the dark of night surrounded by thousands of dead bodies. =P

The G.H.G. Team is kicking fall off with a bang...and tackling a paranormal investigation of Denver's own famously haunted Cheesman Park! We are super excited for our ghost hunt this weekend at this huge city cemetery turned picnic place, as its sordid history of hacked up corpses crammed into tiny child sized coffins and bodies left behind have left a noticably negative energy about the place.

Just returned from the overnight ghost hunt at the old Berenda Elementary school. What an amazing place! There is a house behind the property that had a confirmed death, where the caretaker passed away. It was very active for us...a sleeve was pulled, a rock was thrown, and we even have an EVP or two!

There's a new investigation report posted on the forgotten ghost town of Vishnu Springs. A few very interesting photographs were captured in and around the ruins of the old Capitol Hotel, so be sure to read the article and share your thoughts with us! Ghost towns aren't something commonly found in the midwest, and this one is truly a legend with tales of forbidden love and tragic death. 2351a5e196
