I have an "old" 2012 macbook pro that runs on Catalina 10.15.7 and the cd player stopped working... Apple store said to get an external player/burner. In reading reviews they all said it won't work with this version... Any one know one that does ?

While the info from @karthikeyan77 is true, the actual burning of a DVD with video information will not result in a DVD that is playable on stand alone DVD players unless the video information is authored by a DVD authoring app or software. You do/did not explain just how the "creating files from VHS tapes" was being done, so it might not result in a playable DVD using the method discussed in the previous post.

I would guess any file can be burned to a DVD if it fits. The OP said the player is designed to read DSD files burned to DVDs. I was pointing out that on a Mac the burning functionality is built into the Finder.

Hello, I am using Magix Movie Edit Pro 2022 Plus and when I burn a dvd disk the disk will work on the computer but will not on the dvd player. It is almost as if it had no disk write out for the dvd player. I am using the NTSC 480i (720x480) 16:9 setting. I have tried burning to an internal and external burner. On a prior project it finally worked after many tries, but not at all now even after burning 6 disks. I hate to keep throwing away disks. I am using Windows 10.

Hi John, thanks for commenting. This I know is an odd situation. When I burn the dvd disk using Magix, it seems to complete the burning cycle completely and opens the project to play using the DVD player on my computer. There is no message at all. But when I try to load the disk into my DVD player it says it can not read the disk. But it can read it on another computer. In addition I am using DVD-R disks since they do seem to work better until recently.

I also think I'm going to unload Magix and reinstall. Maybe there has been some little bug that crept in that keeps it from making the disk readable on a DVD player. It might even be trying to write in a PAL format although I have chosen the NTSC format.

then the issue is with the discs, the DVD player not recognising the disc - this a common occurrence with 'economy' and non branded discs, they tend to have a lighter purple colour and can be on the edge of readability by the player when it does not recognise the data that is embedded on the disc by the manufacturer and defaults to a default laser power setting.for reading which may be too high.

John, unfortunately I had already reinstalled the program. I tried it again, and as expected, the same problem occurred. After looking at the files on the disc, there are the usual number of BUP, IFO and VOB files. And again, the disc works on a computer. I went over to my neighbor and tried the disc on his DVD player... same problem... could not read the disc. The frustrating part of the story is that I successfully printed several files to DVD on a prior project after several failures. I am using Movie Edit Pro Plus which before now has always worked wonderfully with the same Verbatim discs.
