Acrobat Reader installation is a two-part process: The installer is downloaded, and then Acrobat Reader is installed. Be sure to wait until both parts are complete. A progress bar displays the time remaining.

I have tried many times, on the official download page, after selecting Windows 11 as the OS, English as the language, the Select Version was greyed out. There is no way I can go past this step to download the free reader.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Test Screen Name

Thanks for the link, it leads me to the same page I was trying to download the reader. You are not the only one who are not sure why it doesn't work.

I googled "How to install Adobe reader" and landed on an official page, but when I clicked on a link to download the reader, I was confronted with Error 404, Page does not exist.

Looks like I'll have to content with some free 3rd party reader.

I have exact the same issue as you. As far as I can see there no solution. I friend send me the "readerdc64_en_a_mdr_install" and I tried to install, message "connection error". The friend also lives in the Netherlands and also uses firefox, for him it just worked. I also deleted all adobe cookies and used MS Edge browser. Helpdesk Adobe "help for free products discontinued". I hope Adobe comes up with a solution soon.

I have a Mac laptop using MacOS Big Sur. While trying to download Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10), it froze at about the 3/4 download and has been stuck at this position for hours. I have done numerous force quits and then tried to reboot the computer but I get a message that shutdown has been intrupted due to an install in progress. It then tells me the software being installed is Adobe Reader XI (11.0.10) and I can restart after the install is complete but the install won't complete. Any help would be appreciated!

I thought about that. But because the PDF portfolio has been emailed as a hyperlink, how do I save it as a file? I tried the 'download' button (you can see that option in the screen shot above also). But the message I get is again, GET ADOBE READER NOW! (see screenshot below after hitting the 'download' button).

Having the same problem with no solution found. I have to send documents through docuSign and the recipient gets that ridiculous download Adobe reader prompt which is useless. I just want to combine and send. I do not want to use portfolios's. Can anyone help?

While trying to download adobe reader through chrome, I get a message that the download failed because a virus was detected in the download. I went through the offical website to get to the download page at , so I know I didn't accidently get it from a third-party website. I included a screen shot to give more details about the virus. Is the another way I can get adobe reader? I'm trying to set up an image for cloning.

On Friday 11-15-18 I tried to download Adobe Reader to Windows 10. The filename was readerdc_en_ra_crd_install.exe. Windows Defender said the file had a virus, Trojan:Win32/Skeeyah.AIMTB. Couldn't download, couldn't install. On Monday 11-18-19 I downloaded Adobe Reader to Windows 10. The Adobe download page asked me for my OS. This is new, I didn't see that question before. I selected Windows 10. I downloaded a different filename, readerdc_en_xa_install.exe. I did not get a virus warning while downloading or installing. I don't think the 11-15-19 virus warning was Windows Defender's fault.

So I downloaded and tried to install Adobe Reader. I made sure it was from the official website, as I already have a story with a third-party one. So it was no doubt from get.adobe.com. Halfway through installation, Windows Defender blocked it because it found the Wacatac B, a serious threat, attached to the .exe file. The affected file was rooted in: C:/PRogramData/Adobe/Temp/7682/installer.bin. It was deleted at that moment.

When I click on a PDF on the web, I expect Brave to download the PDF to a temporary folder, then call Adobe Reader to open the file. Then, when Adobe is finished, the temporary file should be deleted.

We checked the settings in Chrome and it was not set to automatically open Adobe Reader after downloading the PDF, and the Adobe Reader extension was not installed, so we weren't sure why this was happening.

On further investigation we found a setting in the Preferences - General tab called "Open PDFs automatically in Reader when they are downloaded in Chrome browser". Initially when we tried to turn this setting off it would re-enable itself when we closed and reopened Adobe Reader, however clearing the user's preferences from the registry and trying again worked for us. The setting is under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\AutoDocOpen - bIsAutoDocOpenFeatureEnabled dWord 1.

Uncheck the box that says "Open PDFs automatically in Reader when they are downloaded in Chrome browser" then press "Enter" That saves the settings. If you just un check it and then close out it will default back on.

OK, so I go to the DC cleaner page and try to find the download for the cleaner...nope, nothing there works or provides me any means of downloading the cleaner to rid myself of this mess and attempt to re-install.

After two hours of struggle (and I am not computer illiterate!) I was able to download the cleaner. I ran it and still got the same error message. Found more garbage from Reader DC residing in Trash Bin and that my Windows OS was out of date. After an hour of downloading and installing all Windows updates I re-ran the cleaner once more. I continued to receive the error that "a newer version of Reader DC was installed (which it wasn't) I found more garbage in Trash Bin for a s 0852c4b9a8
