I am looking for an emulator for Eclipse for the Sony Xperia mini or the Samsung Galaxy mini phones. I could not find anything on the Internet. Can someone tell me if there is an emulator (an AVD plugin) or how I can emulate one using a generic emulator (i.e, what resolution, density etc to specify)?

All I use the phone for is making snapshots (for ideas when I see something) calendar/notes and

well calls. I am interested in the Wifi and thus android because this way I can use the wifi and sync

with google.

Here in the US it is roughly the same - but after reading so much about cons of iOS I am not sure

I should not rather wait till some better deals are on the market mainly also updated android os phones.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia mini (model ST15i) is an Android smartphone from Sony Ericsson, released in August 2011. The Xperia mini has a "mobile BRAVIA engine" driving a 320480 pixels 3-inch (76 mm) capacitive touch-screen, a 1 GHz Snapdragon S2 processor, a 5 megapixel camera, 512 MB of onboard RAM, and comes stock with a 2 GB microSD card (compatible with up to 32 GB). The phone is one of Sony Ericsson's environmentally friendly "Greenheart" range, featuring devices made of recycled materials, longer battery life and low-energy chargers, as well as minimal use of paper through reduced packaging and the replacement of the traditional printed user manual with one stored on the phone.

The Xperia mini (st15i) runs Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" but can be upgraded to Android 4.0, "Ice Cream Sandwich." It was touted as being an ultra-small smartphone that still retained higher-end specifications and performance.

Hey dudes. I just bought the Xperia Mini with an 16gb micro sd card with it, and have some questions to you guys who may have experience about those events which happened since a few days.

 1. Each time I plug my phone to my pc (windows 7, Pentium 4) it restarts, once the OS crushed, the ringtone settings are reset, the applications are all messed up (they start randomly, or enter settings mode).

First, when I checked the forums, i thought it was because of the 16gb sd card, but later i realized that it had nothing to do with it, and that those crashes happened only when plugged to the PC.

When not plugged, the phone works perfectly.

Has anyone experienced this with their phone?

 2. Bluetooth is a mess. I paired it with my pc, but then, the phone kept calling last caller ID, each time I tried to transfer a file from my pc to the phone.

Also with bluetooth, I could connect my pc to the phone only as a Media controller, and not as a storage device.

 Should I upgrade my PC?

When i paired other devices, the phone responded well, and worked perfectly, so it's obvious that all the problems above are related to windows 7.

 3. There is a wrong information about how to reset your phone posted on internet. Beware. DO NOT TRY TO RESET YOUR PHONE BY PRESSING THE WHITE DOT NEAR YOUR BATTERY. Do not trust any phone reset walkthrough going through internet.

Question: why would a dumb-ass post such a stupid info?

 Here is the link:

How-to: Reset the X10 mini se-blog.com - bringing you news, reviews, videos and more from the world...

What works for a reset is this:"pressing the middle button and the power button at the same time for 5 seconds."

 4. I downloaded an application called "Talk to Me" cloud. It's a nice app, until it tells you that the Xperia mini doesn't have a voice recognition feature.

I googled a while and saw that it's true. Voice recognition is not included in the mini. (voice dialing)

My question: Is voice recognition "software based" and can it be added with an updated, or by rooting the phone? Or is it a hardware feature, and the mini doesn't have it?

 5. I read a lot about rooting my device. I can't download some applications from the android market because of my carrier. (I get the "your carrier doesn't support this application" message).

Would rooting my phone solve this problem? Or does it just help me to uninstall some unwanted, carrier based applications, and that's it?

Also is there a real advantage for rooting the Xperia mini?

And if there is, would I have to root my phone with each upcoming Android Firmware update?

Thanks to anyone for answering my questions.

 gg dudes.

The same thing happened to me.

I updated my xperia mini pro SK17i with PC Companion to version 4.0.4 of Android and I can no longer activate the wifi.

I solved the problem but I am very disappointed with Sony.

- I tried the repair with PC Companion - NO WIFI

- I tried Sony Update Service - NO WIFI

So I decided to install a custom rom CyanogenMod.

- I tried the mango 9.1 - NO WIFI

- I tried the mango 9.0 - NO WIFI

- I tried the mango 7.2 - THE WIFI is' BACK!!

So it's not a hardware problem. It's a software problem!

With the custom CyanogenMod 7.2 mango the Android version is 2.3.7.

So what? is that so? An Xperia Mini Pro owner can not update his phone no more?

4) Install the Android SDK and the device drivers - Downloaded from (64 bit) and also savedhere on ski-epic (354 MBytes). I extracted the contents of that zip into C:\android_development\ and then double clicked to run "C:\android_development\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20140702\SDK Manager.exe" and installed all defaults PLUS THE ADDITIONAL "Google USB Driver Package" (Found as a sub item under "Extras"). After installing, I clicked "Install 5 packages" AGAIN to download and install some sort of update?

Make sure the phone is charged! Try a Hardware reset. The Hardware reset on the X10 mini is done by pressing the On/Off key at the top and the Home (middle) key at the same time. This does not remove any content or applications.

Possibly having a similar problem. I was given my mum's x10 mini and have been trying to get my contact list properly synced, meaning i've been switching the SIM between my old phone and the x10 a few times. Now the x10 won't switch on when the SIM is inserted. It comes on without it, but with it in it just vibrated a bit when the on button is pressed and nothing more happens. The SIM works fine with the old phone (a w995).

The interface benefits from plenty of neat animations. When you put the phone into standby, for example, the screen folds together into a thin strip of white light, as if you were turning off an old TV. To take the phone out of standby you press the standby button at the top and then swipe sideways to unlock it, which is also very reminiscent of the iPhone.

But what the mini lacks in keyboards it makes up for in video recording. The little device is capable of full HD video recording and playback, making the device the smallest of its kind capable of the feat.

When many companies were pushing the boundaries for bigger and higher resolution screens on Android smartphones, Sony Ericsson went against the grain and made a smaller Xperia X10 phone. Now that other companies have jumped on board and introduced their own more pocketable smartphones, Sony Ericsson on Thursday moved into its second generation with two new Xperia minis.

Like the previous generation X10 Mini, the Xperia mini line has two options: the standard version, and the "pro" version which has a slide-out keyboard. In many other respects, however, these devices have undergone quite a bit of change.

For me SONY is still tops but I'd love to see 4.4 upgraded studio shots from its two resolution modes in the interactive comparison tool.... Please and thanks!

Well, some important things that the comparison table does not report are the amount of RAM (2GB for the Z1 vs. 1,5GB for the s4 mini and 1GB for the one mini) and the fact that the chipset, besides being a Snapdragon 800 vs 400 (that is, a chipset designed for a flagship vs. a chipset designed for entry-level phones), also has a higher clock speed. What's more, even the GPU is better on the Z1c.

The Z1c is really in a different league... it's the only one that is a true flagship in a compact body. The other two are just overpriced mid-range phones.
