I tried hard to find the solution, I've already read all the topics on this alpha product but my ignorance and my efforts can't solve my "drivers" problem. I took the download from alfa.com.tw for my AWUS036AC (the latest version). Then I found an install.sh, so through the terminal, once I went to the fold, I wrote chmod +x install.sh and then sudo ./install.sh . The process went wrong, results: Ubuntu can't find the device when I plug it into the USB port.
Run ip link to see if your dongle is recognized (is there new entry when you connect it to your PC?).If not, we need to install driver. Btw, you can also check first if dongle is shown via lsusb, that should work even without driver, if not then there is some other problem also involved.

The problem is, it takes some time for drivers to catch up with new kernels, and some of them get stale, so you might need to try out a few of them in order to find one that works. While driver #3 eventually worked for me, I would certainly recommend trying the other ones also, it is very likely they might be working for you when you try this.
Italian motor manufacturer Alfa Romeo has participated many times in Formula One. It most recently participated as Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake while being operated by Sauber Motorsport AG. The brand has competed in motor racing as both a constructor and engine supplier sporadically between 1950 and 1987, and later as a commercial partner since 2015. The company's works drivers won the first two World Drivers' Championships in the pre-war Alfetta: Nino Farina in 1950 and Juan Manuel Fangio in 1951. During the 1960s, although the company had no official presence in the top tier of motorsport, several Formula One teams used independently developed Alfa Romeo engines to power their cars. In the early 1970s, Alfa provided Formula One support for their works driver Andrea de Adamich, supplying adapted versions of their 3-litre V8 engine from the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/3 sports car to power Adamich's McLaren (1970) and March (1971) entries. None of these engine combinations scored championship points.
The company's sporting department, Autodelta, returned as the works team in 1979. This second period as a constructor was less successful than the first. Between the company's return and its withdrawal as a constructor at the end of 1985, Alfa works drivers did not win a race and the team never finished higher than sixth in the World Constructors' Championship. The team's engines were also supplied to Osella from 1983 to 1987, but they scored only two World Championship points during this period.
This second spell in Formula One was never truly successful and their performance was consistently hampered by reliability issues.[22][24][25] In 1980, their driver Patrick Depailler died in a crash while testing for the 1980 German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring.[26] At the 1980 United States Grand Prix, Bruno Giacomelli obtained pole position with the Alfa Romeo 179,[27] and led the race for 32 laps before the Alfa coasted to a halt with electrical trouble.[28]
While the turbocharged 890T had proved somewhat competitive in 1983,[35] increasing competition from more powerful engines from BWM and TAG, plus the fact that FIA imposed 220-litre fuel limit with no re-fuelling allowed during pit stops during 1984 saw the decline of the Euroracing Alfa Romeo team as a competitive force in Grand Prix racing.[36][37][35] The 890T (the only turbo V8 engine used in GP racing at this time) was very thirsty, and to temporarily rectify this problem, the drivers could interact with a knob regulating the turbo pressure, thus reducing the available power.[35][36][37] Riccardo Patrese's third-place finish at the 1984 Italian Grand Prix being the last podium finish for the team,[37] with both Patrese and Eddie Cheever often failing to finish races throughout 1984 and 1985 due to running out of fuel.[35]
Alfa Romeo's challenger for the 2019 season was the C38, continuing the naming convention from previous Sauber Formula One cars. Alfa Romeo entered the 2020 season with an unchanged driver lineup.[47] In January 2020, the team announced that they would enter a title sponsorship arrangement with Polish oil company PKN Orlen (renaming the team as Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen in 2020 and 2021 and as Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen in 2022) and that Robert Kubica would join as a reserve driver.[48] Alfa Romeo finished the 2020 season in 8th place again, but this time scoring only 8 points.[49]

On Windows 10, when I ran the Setup Wizard, everything was fine and the USB adapter was working, but when I tried to install the drivers on Windows XP using the same Setup Wizard, it prompted me to a big fat bluescreen.
I rebooted, I logged back in my account and I installed the driver by prompting the installer to the location of the .ini file on my desktop \windows_xp_32_64bit_1024.6\windows_xp_32_64bit_1024.6\RTWLANU_Driver\WinXP and the installation completed successfully, however the Device Manager says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
Have you tried the newer XP driver from the AWUS1900.zip package? It is dated 2019-06-15 and versioned '1030.8.0203.2016'. Fully uninstall the device from device manager (with fully removing the driver in count) and install the newer one manually by device manager.
And this link was provided in another post and I assumed it meant this card has something to do with a driver of the line of an MT76x driver which I thought I found and I installed it and I don't see any changes when clicking on the LUCI option Network and the Wireless option is missing.
I am working with an Espressobin box that had no wifi as delivered and getting the wifi up, getting the Wifi option under Network and figuring out the driver this device needs is not meshing in my inexperienced brain ....
Checking USB IDs is one thing, just testing a very modern (kernel 5.0 or newer) linux live system on an x86_64 system would be the easiest option - that will reveal which drivers feels responsible for it (at worst you'll have to provide the necessary firmware yourself).
It sadly not uncommon (at all) that vendors 'recycle' USB IDs for very different hardware, using the same model name or not. Testing and debugging this is considerably easier on a full featured desktop distro (Debian, Fedora, Gentoo, Mandriva, Ubuntu, ...) than an embedded distro like OpenWrt - the former provides all options at once (and all debugging facilities you might envision), for the later you need to know what you need to install - not even considering that most (driver- and kernel) development happens on x86_64, which means you're more likely to encounter arch specific issues on MIPS or ARM than on x86_64 (leave that until you know what you're dealing with).
Edit:I found this =K1ETBeRQBs4Which helped me getting the Alfa card to work in Kali. The trick was to add a new custom USB device in virtualbox where you just take the vendor ID and product ID from the alfa device and leave the other boxes blank.
Now however the problem is that when I plug in the Alfa device my network connection from my other wifi ceases to work (Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260) (the connection bridged from my host). It disconnects in the host aswell. If I connect to a wifi (with 7260) in the host with kali and alfa running the alfa stops working in Kali... I want to have them both running.
