Hi. I love Facebook messenger and I'm wondering whether there's a need to download the desktop app on my windows laptop. I've been using it on my Chrome browser and it's been fine, but does the app have new features and stuff?
Same exact issue. I'm on Windows 11 latest. Started with the native app downloaded from messenger. com. It refuses ALL keyboard input in the app. I've tried everything. I uninstalled it and installed the Messenger app from the Microsoft Store and it was working fine for about a week, and now it is also not accepting any keyboard input.

I am sorry as I do not know the exact steps that caused this issue. It all began when I was having trouble with Brave Sync (nothing happened when I had entered the correct words into the box and pressing sync, but I eventually got it working after an hour of fiddling). Just after I had gotten Sync to work according to a tutorial I found in these forums I found out messenger.com stopped working. At some point I also reinstalled Brave on both of my computers.
Many thanks for getting back! Unfortunately the FB messenger app is no longer supported by my windows 8.1 phone, and I have to use web browser on my phone to access my FB messages. It's a hassle and that's why I was hoping for a miracle app somewhere...The penalty I have to pay for clinging on to my obslete windows phone
The social view also doesn't handle huge windows very effectively. Microsoft says that an alarming proportion of Windows Live Messenger users run with the window maximized. Maximizing the new version of Messenger is certainly more useful than it was in the past, but it still fails to capitalize on all the space available to it. No matter how wide I made the window, it never grew to more than two columns of social information or two columns of contacts.
Keep in mind that when you enable Dark mode in the browser based Facebook Messenger app, it also enables Dark mode for all other Facebook windows in the browser. If you don't want this, then you'll have to install the Facebook Messenger desktop app and choose the Dark theme instead.

I agree. There does not seem to be any documentation on how to use the messenger widget and an no GUI-based control to clear it either. Interesting idea, but it seems like it is not a complete solution.

However, I realize that when the default launcher is disabled and the messenger is open, it's positioned in the bottom right most corner of the webpage and there is a x that appears in the messenger's top right corner. Is there a workaround where I can manually set the position of the messenger up vertically? I would like to mirror the positioning of the messenger when opening the default chat launcher, but using my own custom one. Thanks! 0852c4b9a8
