This Certificate Program offers clinicians the opportunity to increase their diagnostic and treatment skills particular to the needs of children and adolescents. Designed for the advanced practitioner in a variety of settings, these workshops address developmental, environmental, cultural, and family issues that impact clinical interventions. Workshop topics include developmental theories, comprehensive assessment, differential diagnoses, legal and ethical issues, socio-cultural influences, psychopharmacology, and treatment modalities.

At this time, SCT gift certificates can be used for all camps and classes hosted through our Drama School, for tickets to our 22-23 season, or gifted back to SCT as a charitable donations. Gift certificates cannot be used at our concession stand or gift shop.

The Illinois Department of Labor oversees the safety of minors in Illinois by regulating the employment of workers under 16 years of age. The law protects children by limiting working hours, prohibiting work in hazardous occupations, and requiring employment certificates (820 ILCS 205/1-22 Child Labor Law).

The Children's Behavioral Health Occupational Endorsement Certificate is designed for paraprofessionals who are currently working with or planning to work with children and youth in therapeutic residential settings. By completing the endorsement certificate requirements, students gain skills essential to becoming effective members of therapeutic treatment teams. All classes in the OEC in Children's Behavioral Health have been cross-listed with the UAA Human Services program and will be counted as elective credits for students enrolled in the human services undergraduate degrees.

Psychiatric rehabilitation services promote quality of life, community integration, and successful transition to adulthood for children and youth who have experienced serious emotional or behavioral difficulties that significantly impair their ability to function successfully in home, school, family, or community life. Psychiatric rehabilitation services focus on empowering young people and their families to develop the skills and access the resources needed to increase their capability to thrive in the living, working, learning, and social environments of their choice.

PRA no longer recognizes the Children's Certificate in Psychiatric Rehabilitation as suffient preparation to provide CBRS services to children. Instead, the Child and Family Resiliency Pracitioner (CFRP) credential is the only designation recognized by PRA as current documentation of competency to provide services to children. The final offering of this program was held in April 2016. Following that course, PRA announced the availaility of the Child and Family Resiliency Practitioner (CFRP) certification examination. The development of the certificate course was intended as a "stop-gap" measure allowing the organization the time needed to conduct a through Job Task Analysis Study to determine the need for a foram certification around the subject of psychiatric rehabilitation as it relates to children and families. The course, although excellent in content, provided only a baseline training in the topics of psychiatric rehabilitation and resiliency for practitioners serving children and their famlies. The CFRP exam ensures the competence of these pracitioners by evaluating their knowledge, skill and abilty to perform tasks specific to the eight competency domains of children's pscyhiatric rehabilitation. Unique to this certificate is the Creative Making option, which allows students to select one design or arts-oriented course to complete the program in order to gain hands-on, practical experiences with new materials and technologies useful for arts and design programming with children or youth.
