Frank Mechaly’s family roots in the premium denim design industry run deep. Mechaly’s grandfather was an early importer of Levi’s brand jeans in Morocco in the 1950s. His father, David Mechaly is the original creator and founder of MacKeen, a premium denim brand that maintains international recognition on par with Levi’s. Started in the South of France, MacKeen has achieved incredible heights of success. Iconically, MacKeen Jeans were worn by the cast of the original Charlie’s Angels. Passing the torch in a way, Mechaly’s 575 DENIM (May75) was also embraced by American actress Cameron Diaz, who starred in a modern remake of Charlie’s Angels. Growing up surrounded by the denim industry, Mechaly worked in his father’s factory during his most formative years. The experience fostered what has become a lifelong passion for denim design.
Denim Designer Frank Mechaly is the Founder and Creator of 575 DENIM. The brand achieved fantastic levels of success in the United States in the early 2000s. American Actress Cameron Diaz was a particularly big fan of the brand early on; going so far as visiting boutiques to request 575 DENIM jeans to wear at red carpet events and other appearances — on her own volition. Mechaly has since changed the brand name to May75, with respect to the Denim Designer’s birthday. He is also the creative force and founder of RockStar Denim.
