Hands-on Workshop

Are you applying for a PhD scholarship and do not know how to turn your idea into a project? This workshop is for you - it offers a hands-on approach to preparing and writing projects for submission to funding sources.

The workshop seeks to:

• 1. facilitate the understanding of the various elements that make up a project (object and objectives of the investigation, methodological approach and construction of an informative schedule, identification of ethical issues, appreciation of the host institution(s), as well as additional data) ;

• 2. value an individual's profile as a candidate - focusing on the CV and motivation letter.

Program

The main course lasts 6 hours, combining theoretical and practical approaches to project development, seeking to respond to already known evaluation parameters.

Facilitator

Francisca Alves Cardoso is an anthropologist, specializing in Biological Anthropology. She holds a PhD from the University of Durham (UK), and since 2015 she is a Senior Researcher fellow at CRIA - Network Research Center in Anthropology. Since 2014, she has acted as an evaluator of research projects for national (Portuguese) and international funding institutions (e.g. Foundation for Science and Technology, H2020-Marie Sklodowska-Curie COFUND Programme, Hungary National Research, Development and Innovation Office, Evaluator Research Foundation Flanders, Leakey Foundation). Since 2016, she has collaborated with FCT in the evaluation of doctoral and post-doctoral projects submitted in the scientific areas of Social Sciences, Humanities and Medical and Health Sciences. In 2020 and 2021 she was coordinator and co-coordinator of the Anthropology Panel.
