Hi! I am Francesco Carenini, PhD in Physics. I am a researcher at the National Institute for Nuclear Physics - Bologna Division, specializing in experimental astroparticle physics, with a particular focus on multi-messenger studies involving neutrinos.
I am full member of the KM3NeT Collaboration, where my research mainly centers on the search for cosmic sources emitting neutrinos with the KM3NeT/ARCA detector. My work involves detector calibration, event reconstruction, and the development and application of strategies for neutrino data analysis.
During my PhD, I worked on the implementation of likelihood methods for neutrino point-source searches, strengthening statistical approaches to identifying astrophysical signals. My research also focused on the search for a cumulative neutrino emission from blazars, combining numerical modeling of neutrino flux predictions with KM3NeT data through a stacking likelihood analysis. In parallel, I contribute to KM3NeT operations, being responsible for the data-taking activities of the detector. I am part of the KM3NeT Outreach Committee.
