There has been a pub in Framsden, Suffolk since the 1700s. Many of the residents want this to continue, it has been the heart of the village for at least 300 years. Sadly the last owner and landlady died and since then the pub has been up for sale. The pub is under threat of conversion to a house through change of use planning regulations.
The pub always supported village events, providing bars for early barn dances when the Framsden street fair literally closed the street for activities, this continued with one off events in the village such as supporting the twinning association and other fundraising activities. Other events run in the pub included a Sloe gin competition, potato growing competition and home to the Framsden Petanque team who used the car park for the games and the bar to commiserate or celebrate the result. Other village organisations meeting there included the early meetings of Framsden Parish Plan Committee, Eades Orchard/Woodland Group, the local Nursery committee, Friends of Framsden fundraising group. Christmas Eve the pub was filled to capacity with villagers and again on Christmas morning after the morning service.
The village would like to keep the pub at the centre of community activity. This website will be one of many ways to keep all the villagers informed.
