ACQUIS D’APPRENTISSAGE (AA)
Learning outcomes
Statement of what the student must know, understand and be able to do at the end of a learning process, a course or a validated teaching unit. Learning outcomes are defined in terms of knowledge, skills and competences. The terminal abilities assessed at the end of a teaching unit are expressed in learning outcomes.

ACTIVITES D’ENSEIGNEMENT (AE)
Teaching activities, wich are defined as:
theoretical courses, practical sessions, practical work, laboratories, educational activities, projects and other activities organised in accordance with teaching plans; end-of-year assignments and projects for teaching units; internships provided for in teaching materials, organised individually or in groups, duly supervised and assessed; professional learning activities, duly supervised and assessed; professional training activities, duly supervised and assessed; sessions, examinations and tests; etc.

PART D’AUTONOMIE
Autonomy
In the teaching file for a teaching unit, this refers to the number of periods that a social advancement educational establishment uses at its discretion, in particular to meet specific approaches or needs; to temporarily adapt the teaching unit to immediate developments and to help cover the minimum content of the teaching unit.

PÉRIODE
Period
In a teaching unit or section file classified at secondary or higher education level, whether short or long term, a period corresponds to a 50-minute teaching activity slot.

UNITÉ D'ENSEIGNEMENT (UE)
A teaching unit consists of a course or set of courses that are grouped together because they pursue common objectives and constitute a coherent pedagogical whole of learning outcomes that can be assessed and validated.

UNITÉ D'ENSEIGNEMENT DÉTERMINANTE (UE déterminante)
Decisive teaching unit
A teaching unit is considered decisive when it directly contributes to the skills assessed in the integrated examination, if applicable. It is listed as such in the section's teaching file and is taken into account when determining the distinction appearing on the qualification.

UNITÉ D’ENSEIGNEMENT « EPREUVE INTÉGRÉE »
An ‘integrated assessment’ teaching unit is assessed by means of a comprehensive assessment in the form of a project or final dissertation. The purpose of this assessment is to verify whether the student has mastered, in summary form, the skills covered by the key units mentioned in the teaching dossier.

La VALORISATION des capacités acquises par l'expérience:
RECOGNITION OF ACQUIRED SKILLS
Under Article 8 of the decree, adult education establishments are authorised to take into account, for the purposes of admission to, attendance at and certification of studies, the skills acquired in any form of education or other training, including professional experience.

VALORISATION OF ACQUIRED EXPERIENCE (VAE)
VAE allows all adults (employees, self-employed persons, volunteers, job seekers, etc.) to access training. These adults can benefit from course programmes tailored to their profile, provided they can prove their experience and demonstrate skills related to their chosen studies.
In social advancement education, pursuant to ‘Article 8’ of the decree, social advancement educational institutions are authorised to take into consideration the skills acquired through professional experience when considering access to studies, courses and qualifications.
