A Collective Garden on Public Land

Phyllis Rawlinson Park

11715 Leslie Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario L4E 3R7

Forster Collective Garden provides an opportunity for residents to grow their own food in a unique, collective-style garden space.

2019 was the first year of operation and it’s exciting to have an open canvas to create a space that is active, healthy and thriving for all who will garden here.

This garden differs from allotment-style gardens in that members not only focus their efforts on their own plots, but also involve themselves collectively, participating in maintaining common areas and a Donation Garden.

Our nominal annual membership fee structure funds the maintenance of equipment collectively available to FCG Members. The City of Richmond Hill provided significant initial set-up support.

Forster Collective Garden is well organized by a core group of dedicated volunteers with expertise in community garden organization, organic growing, crop production as well as educational and social programs relating to organic food gardening.

Workshops will be organized throughout the gardening season to enhance collective knowledge in the community. Social activities such as potluck meals will provide further opportunities to connect with each other.
