Professional panelists discuss the dynamics, tribulations, and hopes associated with being culturally marginalized, underrepresented, yet talented in 21st-century careers. This session will also offer strategies and resources/tools to assist young professionals in navigating occupational spaces.

Social Activist Cory Hughes provides an overview of what activism entails, offers concrete ways to create just awareness, highlights various social justice causes and organizations and actions that lead toward meaningful and equitable action. This session will also provide tools for networking and local connection necessary to build and support grassroots organizations that benefit marginalized communities.

Presenters Dr. Jeffrey Herr and Dr. Shereah Taylor-Love collaborate to showcase ways for educators and students alike to construct liberating, educational communities. This session will center around the idea that student self-empowerment and self-fulfillment leads to more caring, critical, and conscientious classroom environments. Additionally, this session will provide participants opportunities for discussion and implementation, offering practical suggestions for achieving a more just classroom – PreK-higher education.

Business & community leaders discuss implications and potential remedies for unjust policies and practices associated with homeownership, public school financing, redistricting, and achieving the American Dream. Panelists will provide specific resources and types of consultation designed to assist individuals in recognizing and combating the negative impact of unjust practices within our economic community.
