FORT SECLIN alias FORT DUHOUX

Quietly overlooking a plain of 100 hectares, this wooded peninsula reveals a cathedral 4.5 million bricks covered with a roof of 5 hectares.

After the defeat of 1870, the Third Republic commissioned General Séré de Rivières to urgently build a new fortification system for its borders. Called "Vauban nineteenth century", the fortified work of this era is still unknown. Seclin Fort is part of Lille's defensive belt. Logistical strength during the First World War, used until 1976 and remained in the heart of the fields, He is the only one of the 6 forts of the Lille belt to have remained intact for 140 years.
