BIOMETHANE FROM SEWAGE SLUDGE

A demonstration plant for the upgrading of biogas from sewage sludge has been built at the IRETI plant in Roncocesi (Reggio Emilia). watch the video

Part of the biogas produced by the anaerobic digestion of the sludge is used to cover the thermal requirements of the sludge line and the office building (about 400,000 m3/year) see the Biomether page

The surplus, first burned in a torch (about 250,000 m3/year) is used for the production of biomethane, which is refined thanks to an UPGRADING process, to then be fed into the network and go on to fuel the company vehicles.

The protocol - agreement for vehicle testing between IREN, Art ER, Biomether Life and Volkswagen was officially presented on 24 September 2019. link to the report
