Chapter 1

Pages 17-28: A brief introuduction to the Forstall lineage of Mullennahone is followed by a section tracing the Forstall family of Kilkenny back to thirteenth century Ireland. The chapter ends with a section dealing with the first pardons of the Mullennahone and Carrickcloney Forstalls showing their involvement with the Mountgarret Butlers and MacMurrough Kavanaghs.

Chapter 2

Pages 33-61: The period of the Eleven Years' War is covered followed by the Willamite War with a focus on Forstall lands which were confiscated and then regained after the Williamite War. The Forstall kinship network which involved families such as the Aylwards, Butlers, Kavanaghs, Kellys, and Rossiters, including others, is covered in great detail.

Chapter 3

Pages 65-73: The chapter begins with detail on the origins of the Forstall family of New Orleans and the progyny of their ancestor Edmond Dubh Forstall. The latter portion of this chapter is devoted to outlining the interwoven kinship network of families associated with the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem and the Forstalls.

Chapter 4

Pages 77-89: The Forstall family of Ringville and their chief representative Edmond Bán Forstall, the son of Pierce Forstall of New Ross, is given treatment in this chapter. Additionally, this chapter shows how the Forstall family established important relations within the mercantile networks of New Ross and Waterford through intermarriage.

Chapter 5

Pages 93-107: Beginning with the 1798 rebellion, this chapter focuses on  the Forstall dynasty descended from Pierce Forstall of Carrickcloney (d.1683), the son of Edmond Forstall of Mullennahone (d. 1677), during the 19th century. Particular focus is given to the New Orleans (Martinique), Rochestown (Ringville), and Milwaukee (Bahana), branches of the family. 

End of An Heir

Chapter 6

Pages 111-124: With the death of Edmond Forstall of Rochestown (d. 1855), son of Pierce Edmond Forstall (d. 1843), Forstall ownership of land held 'in fee' by the direct male line descendants of Pierce Forstall of Carrickcloney (d. 1683) was brought to an end.  However, many corelative branches of the Forstalls survived which is shown by outlining various marriages and baptisms.

Pages 125-133: This section provides Genealogical Charts or pedigrees of the Forstall/Forrestal lineage of Mullennahone; the Butler lineages of Danganspidogue and Annaghs; the Grace lineages of Kiltown/Kilrindowney, Legan. Ballylinch, and Gracefield; and the MacMacMurrough Kavanagh Ballybrannagh lineage. Corelative branches of these families are shown along with parent branches where possible.

Page 135: A page devoted to the Genealogy of Art Óg MacMurrough Kavanagh, king of Leinster (d. 1417), taken from manucript sources, is presented with detailed source notes provided on page 217. The Forstalls descent from Aoife, daughter of King Diarmuid MacMurrough and wife of Richard de Clare, is illustrated along with other corelative relationships.

Page 139: An important genealogical chart is presented which outlines the familial relationship between 'The Three Constables' who held a combined six castles in the Barony of Ida, Co. Kilkenny. 

The Forstall Letters

Chapter 10

Thirteen letters from the 18th-19th century, which were preserved by the New Orleans Forstall lineage are presented. These letters include correspondence from members of the Forstall family in Ireland with their cousins who lived in New Orleans.

O'Donovan's Ordnance Survey and GO MS 178

Chapter 11

This section deals with the scholar John O'Donovan's Ordnance Survey Letters for Kilkmakevoge parish and GO MS 178 which exhibits key errors in regards to the Mullennahone and Carrickcloney Forstall lineage.
