What Form Rescue does
Form Rescue saves text from supported online forms on websites you explicitly enable. You can review saved drafts, keep recovery copies of cleared text, and choose a draft to restore into empty fields. The extension does not submit forms.
Information handled
Depending on what you enter, saved text may include names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, messages and other form content.
To organize and match drafts, the extension also handles website origins, page titles, display paths, field labels, form identifiers, timestamps and settings. Query values and supported application routes are converted into salted fingerprints for page matching rather than stored as raw query values. These fingerprints are identifiers, not encryption of your saved text.
The extension listens for input and change events in supported fields on enabled websites. It does not record a general browsing history or track activity for advertising.
Local storage and sharing
Drafts and recovery copies are stored locally in your Chrome profile using Chrome extension storage. Form Rescue does not transmit saved form text to the developer or external servers.
The extension contains no analytics, advertising trackers or cloud synchronization feature. We do not sell saved data or share it with third parties.
If you choose to copy text or restore it into a website, that text becomes available at the destination you select. The destination website's own data practices apply.
Sensitive information
Form Rescue uses automatic rules to attempt to exclude passwords, payment details, identity numbers and other sensitive fields. It also blocks saving or restoration on certain detected password or payment forms.
Detection is imperfect and can miss sensitive information, including information entered into an ordinary text field. Avoid enabling Form Rescue on sensitive websites or entering confidential information while saving is enabled.
Security
Saved drafts are not encrypted by Form Rescue. Anyone with access to your Chrome profile or device may be able to access them. Avoid using the extension on shared or untrusted computers.
Retention and recovery copies
The default expiry period is 7 days. You can select 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days. Expiry is based on an item's saved timestamp. Expired items are removed during cleanup when the extension runs; deletion may not occur at the exact expiry time.
Clearing form fields does not necessarily delete previously saved text. The extension may retain a separate recovery copy so you can recover cleared text.
Draft count limits and storage cleanup also apply. Older items may be removed to manage available storage. Form Rescue is not a permanent backup service and recovery is not guaranteed.
Your controls
You can enable or disable saving for each website, review and copy saved items, change the expiry period, and delete individual drafts or recovery copies.
Turning saving off does not delete existing saved items. Use the dashboard's deletion controls to remove them. The Delete all drafts and recovery copies control removes saved items while retaining extension settings.
Uninstalling the extension removes its Chrome local extension storage. Text you copied elsewhere, restored to a website, or retained in independent device backups is outside these deletion controls.
Permissions
Storage is used for drafts, recovery copies, preferences and temporary save status.
Scripting runs the packaged form saving and restoration scripts on websites you authorize.
ActiveTab identifies the current website when you open the popup.
Alarms schedule expiry and storage cleanup.
Optional website permissions are requested when you enable a website. Permission to access every website is not requested at installation.
Limited use
Form Rescue uses handled data only to provide its form saving and recovery features. It does not use or transfer user data for unrelated purposes, advertising, creditworthiness decisions or lending.
Form Rescue's use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
This policy page
This page is hosted on Google Sites. Google may process visitor information under its own privacy policy. Visiting this page does not give the developer access to drafts saved by the extension.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when the extension's behavior changes. The revision date will be updated accordingly.
