I am Sandeep Kumar pursuing a Ph.D. since January 2020 in the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Kharagpur under the supervision of Associate Prof. Prashanth Reddy Hanmaiahgari. I have been selected as a PMRF scholar through lateral entry in December cycle 2020. Our primary focus is on reducing bank erosion, managing the deposition of alluvial soil along the river, and analyzing the underlying causes. We aim to understand the processes that contribute to these patterns, their impact on the surrounding environment, and explore strategies to mitigate adverse effects while preserving the river's natural dynamics as it threatens the economy,  the life of living beings, and the cultivable land of India. 

Further analyzing the flow characteristics around the river training structure  and scour hole formation. The purpose of this research is to recommend a cost-effective and economical river training structure that effectively prevents erosion and guides the river or channel back to its main flow. This involves identifying strategies and structures that not only minimize financial investment but also ensure long-term stability and functionality in managing the river's course. The goal is to provide a sustainable solution that mitigates the risk of erosion and maintains the integrity of the waterway by directing its flow within desired boundaries, ultimately protecting surrounding land and infrastructure from potential damage..
