Reminder to log volunteer hours. If hours aren’t logged, you will not receive your service hours. You can find it on the “For Tutors” section of the TC website. If you need volunteer hours for something, the organization will probably give you a form. Every tutor should get their hours by the end of the year. Please print out the log template on the slides if you do not already have a service hours form. There will be a time at lunch towards the end of the year (mid-May) when we will physically sign off on them. There will still be digital records of the hours you’ve logged.
Officer Shadowing [APPLICATIONS CLOSED]: we’re looking for officers to take over when we graduate in 2023 (current 10th and 9th graders), as well as some officers to join our team next year in 2022 (current 11th and 10th graders). We will be training officer candidates during our senior year (next year, ‘22-’23). This is a selective process because we aren’t a traditional club and there is a lot of background work required. In the training, you will learn our process for matching, emailing skills, and problem-solving skills. This is a good experience for both college applications and future work. We aren’t intimidating :). There’s an interest form on the slides to fill out if you would like to learn more about being an officer. There isn’t a deadline, and we will have an interest meeting.
Summer Tutoring: this is absolutely not mandatory, but if you and your student agree to continue tutoring, you can. Normally, tutoring stops over breaks and may or may not start again next school year. The parent may not contact you again after summer break, but we will assign you a new student if that happens.
Reminder about finding previous meeting summaries on the website. Reminder to log hours! It is mandatory to attend 2 meetings per semester. You can DM us on Discord (on the day of the meeting) for the attendance question’s answer if you READ THE MEETING SLIDES. If you have to leave Tutors’ club, tell us so we know what’s going on. If you haven’t been matched yet, it’s because the preferences between tutor and student don’t match up. We will do the live tutoring matching, so that if people want to change their preferences live, they can do that. Wednesday is the most in-demand day, and the most demanded subjects are ELA and math. Our meetings are biweekly on Wednesdays at 12:30. All the information is on the website. For new members: after filling out the preferences form, check your email to see when you’ve been matched. People without a student were asked to stay. Live student-tutor matching: matched several students
