VasuEttanteKada made a name for themselves with their special Chicken Curry. Now don’t you dare think for a second it is just another place that just serves chicken. Almost any other non-vegetarian dish you can think off will be on their menu for you to gobble.

Started by Vasu some fifty years back, this place was originally a toddy shop. However, on the ban on arrack, they completely shifted their focus to the food they served. Still the philosophy of their dishes stays close to the toddy shop type Kerala dishes for which they are so dearly known.

This small one room restaurant is located at Elanjipra Junction on Potta to Athirapally Road on the left side. If you are coming from Chalakudi, just turn to this road at Elanjipra. Even though they do not have any parking area, you can park on the roadside just beside the restaurant itself. Kozhi Curry from this place will certainly make you wonder ‘why haven’t I found this place earlier’ for sure. The oily masala along with fresh chicken is a treat any chicken loving person will not forget. Pork, Duck, Fish Curry, Mutton are some of the other non-vegetarian items to die for from this one of a kind restaurant. All the side curries are served in small portions at a very reasonable price so that you can try different varieties of dishes.

Afternoon lunch hours are their most rush time with customers waiting outside for their turn. So it is always better to get to this place bit early for their lunch hours to peacefully enjoy your dishes. Meals served in banana leaves have tasty side curries, which don’t need any other extra item. With a friendly host and his family maintaining the hotel, their service might get a bit slow during rush hours. They take orders from travelers who call and inform them and serve parcels also even on Sundays when the restaurant is closed. If you are planning a trip to Athirapally or Vazhachal, add this place to the ‘things to do’ otherwise, your trip will be incomplete by a huge margin.
